The layout itself is an improvement to the already good older version, especially with the usage of the Tolkien-style font, which also makes the banner better. But to my eyes the green letters on black ground were friendlier.

I, too, like the green on black... but I'm always getting comments that the pages I make are too dark. So I decided to lighten this one up a bit. It's not so bad as to be distracting, is it, Sharku?

No, neither bad nor distracting, but a bit harder to read.
And hey, the site´s called "The Barrow-Downs" and not "Bright Light of Laurelin", it should be dark.
I think the beige on green at the sides of the site looks better than the reverse in the middle, but it´s alright anyway. (Although it´s far from the nauseating brilliance of orange on blue, that would rule!)

Zones, your posts are almost impossible to translate and usually say nothing anyways. You need to knock off the double-posting and buy a dictionary - or at least run your posts through a spell checker or something.

I'm thinking the spell checker idea wouldn't get the job done, you have to be somewhat close to the right spelling.

Yeah... and Zones, maybe you should talk a little bit with your english teacher as well? I was just thinking about your grammar.. though the spell checker might make something better out of it, though I highly doubt it.. Just because you is not from an english talking country doesn't mean that you can't make posts that people is able to understand.. (though I'm not sure if that last sentense is understandable enough.. ^_^) oh, anyway, just try to make the best out of it, and it might turn out good.. I hope

well, ppl, I think we rather should appriciate kid's enthisiazm driving him through dust covered threads rather than rebuke him (or maybe her? I'm not quite sure there) Go ahead, Zones! :P
btw, I haven't noticed spellchecker option anywhere.I remember having one back in Ezboard times, yet here... Is there any?

Just wondering: what did the BDs look like before?

Wow! It's been almost three years since I changed the design. From what I can remember, the layout was similar but the colors were closer to what is in the forum now - black background with green letters. Very barrow-like, but I wanted to give the main site a more Middle-earthish feel. That's why I forsook the grave coloring and went to the happier hobbit hues.

Barrow-Wight excellent job! I love it! Like everyone said it is easier to read, and is more middle-earthy. Good job! And I just want to say, you are doing a brilliant job on the site smilies/biggrin.gif.. keep it up!

Thank you. I'm assuming you mean the site is easier to read, because I don't think you were around three years ago when we redesigned.

Well yes.. lol that’s what I meant! And actually I was here two and a half years ago but I didn’t see the Forum; either it was not on or it just had a blonde moment!!

The Barrow-Wight: "Announcement: I've decided to redecorate the BD...what do you think of a light teal background with a deep violet for text and salmon pink for links? And I'm changing the name to 'The Bunny Downs'."
Ah, what could have been, what could have been...
(PS: I wrote the above quote in a diffrent thread, BTW, B-W never said that.)

I remember the EZ board Barrow Downs, but never made the transfer to this fine site, having invested my time into another fine if much less reliably operating Tolkien site. I am now a refugee and so I wander in search of a new home. I have to say this place has seemingly the best discussions of the books and seemingly more literate users (no netspeak), and also a well-planned RP site. I have to thank Bêthberry for sending me the link for this place some time ago.
You have a good looking site here Barrow Wight!

Personally I think that was the old colour scheme, Diamond. It's far too tasteful and stylish not to have been considered.
Welcome to the new Downs, Snowdog.

True, true. And, seeing as how we all know this site was begun in the days before Ron discovered his love for Tolkien (during that "pastel" faze) it's perfectly logical that "The Bunny-Downs" was his first choice for the site name. Undoubtedly.

I first realised the forum used to be different when I dug up an old gollum trivia post. I saw the oddness of having the PT above the post, and a reply title... ITS JUST NOT RIGHT!!!! *goes insane* But I think it would kill my eyes to have the barrow colours on the front page.
Oh, and quit picking on zones ^_- I was a young enthusiatic poster with no sense of speeling adn i stlil am! smilies/wink.gif
[EDIT] DUDE! Did zones get their account deleted or do it themself? Cause I was sure you couldn't post if you weren't registered..... smilies/eek.gif

Well after you reach 1000 informative posts, you are allowed to have a few here and there that aren't. Plus, this should be a good thing that I am still posting at all.

yes, but zones is marked as 'unregistered'. Does it mean such an account is no more in existence?
