BANNER ADS on The Downs
We will continue to accept the generous donations of our members, but at the suggestion of some of our users, The Barrow-Downs has also designed a way for you to help us and help your own site out at the same time. Now webmasters can purchase a banner ad or button that will show right on the Barrow-Downs site or forum. Here are the plans we have come up with.
(PLAN 1) ROTATING BANNERS AT THE TOP OF THE SITE AND FORUM
$5/month –one banner showing per rotation
$10/month – three banner showings per rotation
$15/month – seven banner showings per rotation
$20/month – twenty banner showings per rotation
A rotation is the cycle of showing all banners in the lineup. If site #1 paid $5 and site #2 paid $10 and site #3 paid $15, the banners would show in an order similar to: 1-2-3-2-3-2-3-3-3-3-3 and then start over at 1. Every fourth banner ad will be internal links on the Downs.
www.barrowdowns.com (http://www.barrowdowns.com) currently has an average of 40,486 page views a day (and this is our slow season!). With the example above, the sites would get the following number of showings each day:
The Barrow Downs: 10,121 (the site will always get ¼ of the total page views)
Site 1: 2,760
Site 2: 8,281
Site 3: 19,322
forum.barrowdowns.com currently has an average of 17,591 page views a day. With the example above, the sites would get the following number of showings each day:
The Barrow Downs: 4,397 (the site will always get ¼ of the total page views)
Site 1: 1,599
Site 2: 4,797
Site 3: 11,194
Daily Totals:
The Barrow Downs: 14,518 (the site will always get ¼ of the total page views)
Site 1: 4,355
Site 2: 13,078
Site 3: 30,516
Obviously, the more sites that advertise, the less any one site’s banner will show. We will do our best to make sure that no site’s banner shows less than 500 times a day across both sites.
(PLAN 2) GRAPHIC BUTTON ON RIGHT MENU OF SITE
$10/month – one button showing per rotation (all buttons get same amounts of showings)
$20/month – dedicated button (maximum of three sites can have dedicated buttons)
Again, the more sites that go into the $10 option lineup, the less often each will appear, but the showings are quite good. We will limit the number of buttons in the $10 lineup to ten sites. If all ten slots are filled, each site would still get 4,408 showing of their button each day with current traffic. That’s pretty good. The three dedicated buttons would be seen on 100% of the page views.
(PLAN 3) BANNER AD/GRAPHIC BUTTON COMBO
Get both a banner ad and a graphic button for your site and save 10% off the total cost. Thus, a $10 ad and a $10 button would cost only $18/month.
MULTI-MONTH OPTION
For each month you buy, you will save an additional 2% from the cost.
Example: $15 banner ad for 6 months = $90.
6 months x 2% = 12% = $10.80
Total Cost of banner ad: $79.20
WHAT SITES CAN ADVERTISE ON THE DOWNS
1) Tolkien sites
2) Sites that have similar content to the Downs
3) Sites approved by the Barrow-Wight and the Barrow-Downs Team
WHAT SITES CANNOT ADVERTISE ON THE DOWNS
1) Adult sites
2) Banner sites
3) Sites the Barrow-Wight and the Barrow-Downs team disapprove.
OTHER STUFF
Advertiser Dissatisfaction: If you don’t like our service, we will refund the remaining portion of the plan you purchased.
Technical Problems with the site: If our site goes down for more than 12 hours, we will extend your plan for 1 day per 24 hours of down town (12-24 hours = 1 day, 24-48 = 2 days, etc.)
My server closed because of too much traffic Sorry! That’s hard for us to control on this end. Make sure you don’t buy a plan your site can’t handle. If you are unsure, get one of the small plans and see how it works for you. You can always upgrade later.
