I had the opourtunity to see a bootleg version on the Fellowship from Indonesia with subtitles (in English, oddly enough.) The entire thing was one hoot after another. Here are a select memorable few:
Bilbo: Not some blockheaded Bracegirdle from Hardbottle was "Not some hot-skirter from hotbottle!"
Hobbits were "Hoppits"
Old Tobey, Finest weed in the South Farthing became "Old Journey, find the weed in a cave of mine"

Boromir Speech in Lorien: "Frodo's voices is inside my head. He spoke of my father in front of Gandalf. She said "Enough now, there is hope left." I can not see it. It's long since we haven't had any hopes. My father is an elf man. He allways have faith...and now people loose faith. He looked to me to make things right, but I won't do it. I don't see the glory. Have you ever seen it Aragorn...like the spike of pure silver, you could hide in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the sound of trumpet?"
Half the Shire's been invited. "Office Strider's been invited."
I've got many more!

Lord of Angmar
08-08-2003, 11:05 PM
Hahahaha! I wish I had a copy. I saw a Chinese bootleg of the Fellowship that was similar. Your post reminded me that I had asked my friend (who owns the copy) to send me a few funny lines from it:

Galadriel in the opening scene:
It beginning with fording the Great Rings, Seven for the dwarves, three for the Elfs, mortal and whitest of them all, and nine, nine rings were given to the brace of Man, who was all else doomed to die.

Saruman
The Nine has left Minas Mordor. They crossed the river Rising on mad summer day. They will find that thing, and they kill one who carry it.

Cheers!

Oh dear, remind me never again to eat while reading this thread!!!! There's chocolate all over my computer!

You guys have to see the Hindi version. One of my friends can fiddle with the languages on her TV, and we watched FotR in that. Here are a few memorable subtitles:

Bilbo in the Shire: I know half of you halfway up your skirts, and I like to have the rest of you half as much you like.

Pippin in the field: Look, Merry! It's Fodo Waggins!

I'm not sure if they were all typos or whether they were actually saying that in Hindi because I'm not too good at the language.

I try to be as nice as i can when i am explaining new things to my friends. When this is done by word of mouth, flaws can be fixed at that moment. But, since most of us are not a Bill Gates who can afford to have endless abilities hooked up to his computers typing will have to do. When this is done, flaws stay there. Winking at you in the eye. NEVER GOING AWAY...

for example, i was telling my friend or should i say recommending that he should visit www.barrowdowns.com. (http://www.barrowdowns.com.) am i just not the little salesman? Anyway, the next day i asked him if he check it out. Apparently, he typed :

www.barroudoons.com (http://www.barroudoons.com)

He then told me that i must of had a sick and twisted mind. Don't even ask me what in the name of Ra what was on that site.

Well, i had to write down the RIGHT spelling . Just incase he tried to go back to it again. Idon't know if he's seen it or not. Hope he does though...

And just for your entertainment, i'll even put down one that i typed. ( please don't send messages into my profile account.)

this is what the Ka siad at 2:30 in the morning in the chat room on the downs:

" Oh me? I'm a Speedo... Are you a Leo?"

yes. laugh. you evil monkeys. just laugh. don't tell me anything.

P.S. If you are wondering, or wnt to know what a speedo has to do with astrology, it doesn't. I am actually a Scorpio, and yes i am a hothead. Just a little one though...

I'll warrant the thread will come nine to vanquishing him
I can't make sense of this sentence and I think it's the nine that's wrong. It could possibly be meant to say 'nigh on'.

Gerbil-Bergil, you posted this: I am secretly a girbil. I suppose that's a mistake... :)

I don't usually make typos or actually I usually notice them while still writing the post. Today I actually wrote Suppose Lingwë could be the chicken patrol when discussing in the Númenórean Blood Runs Black Discussion Thread about who is going to be in the kitchen patrol and who is going to polish the swords. I noticed the mistake when I was writing the word 'patrol', but the mistake was so funny that I had to leave it there. :D (I wouldn't actually call that a typo, I just was thinking about chickens for some reason, and the word was similar enough to 'kitchen' so I subconsciously wrote it.)

i belive the 'maggot holes' the Captians of the West saw were only small caves in the side of the Mts of Mordor, adjacent to the Morannon fro orcs to hide in and hide their numbers.

Orcs with afros? I don't want to think about that.
