Here is the game update: We have reached Mirkwood, found the old forest road, and have just entered the forest (it is morning).

This is what needs to happen over the week:

- A member of the company (who is put on watch alone) gets captured by Kaldon & com. I have pm'd the person that will get captured.

- Everyone thinks the person is lost, looks for them.

- They are found, and we slay the men working for Kaldon. Sadly, the mastermind escapes (like usual smilies/tongue.gif )

In my opinion, the game has and is going excellently. We are moving along at a splendid rate, while still giving good depth to each topic and place covered.

Kili and Burzdol: You have not posted for over a week. It is Barrow-Downs policy (its harsh, I know), that after two weeks of not posting a player is killed off; if they have not notified the game owner or others why they cannot post. Hurry up and post!

Speaking of that; Is anyone willing (I know, its hard) to let their character die in the last battle?

Neh, I'll take one for team if y'all want. I didn't make Gromfelt very deep anyway, so my last post would probibly ended up sounding corney. Prefer if he didn't have to die though,I like my dwarf, but I'm willing to let him get killed off.

I don't think Durin should die, it wouldn't work well with the story, I think. Hes so young(for a dwarf), it would really suck! But it might be interesting if Dain died smilies/evil.gif lol, but only if that works with him!

I contacted Burzdol (finally!). His computer crashed and he just got it working again yesterday. He will post soon.

As for Kili... I have heard nothing from him. I will pm him, but if he does not get back to me within a few days or post I think we will have found our volunteer for the sacrifice... smilies/evil.gif

*ehem* If Burzdol died ... Ani Dao would probably have a heart attack. How many of us did you want to dispose of Himaran? smilies/evil.gif

Are we going to see any elves in Mirkwood?

Durin,

GRR!! You are going to be grounded for 20 years after a remark like that!

Actually, I am willing to let Dain die, although my wife may be a little upset.

Let me know if you want me to croak, and how I should do it.

The late, great Dain.....

We will see elves when we reach the hall of Thranduil.

As for deaths, we don't NEED any, but if someone wants to we can arrange for it...

Tomorrow I will post, and the capture will occur...

I think we may have to skip the spider attack; we only have about 15 days or so left to play. We will spend about 5 of those in Mirkwood, so if we can finish this fight quickly we can get to Thranduil's hall and have fun there for a little while.

Himaran: Can I bring some of Ani Dao's old friends into the picture (from when she lived in Mirkwood). Sort of like I did with Annanoldowen. I think it will go along better with the story since she did sort of 'run away' from there a thousand years ago. I also re read the bio for Astarielle and she is from Mirkwood also. Perhaps we should 'reunite' with some of our old friends? Do I need bios for these contemporary characters? I'd only have them for like a week anyways. Just an idea.

Himaran

Of course, bring in old friends! Bali also knows an elf that may live here, and so do Astarielle, Ani Dao, Burzdol, and possibly Hathalas. I don't know, but other members of the company could also know elves living here.

Knowone needs character descriptions - but remember, most warriors are gone from Thranduil's hall, fighting their own conflict that was told in Search For the Lost Messenger RPG. The others are already at Erebor. Thus, only a few warriors will still be here.

Noooo! Burzdol!! You ruined it! Ah! And Himaran gave us a peaceful entrance. I worked all day through school on this post. WAAAHHH. Even during lunch! I had to explain to three diferent people what I was doing and why I wasn't talking. None of them had heard of RPGs and I had to tell each of them what it was! I was called "weird" all 3 times too and now I can't post it! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I don't know what to do. *sob* I'm so upset guys. smilies/biggrin.gif

*sigh* Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to post it here I guess. And Himaran, if you will, place it beneath your last post. I'll rearrange it so Burzdol's fits too. *sigh* It's okay though, I'm over it. I'm officially one of those psycho writers that really gets into a story. smilies/wink.gif Sorry I'm such a pain smilies/biggrin.gif

Okay. Here it is. Do what you can and what you will with it Himaran. Thank you so much.

Post:

Gheriwen ran through the woods, her boot clad feet barely touching the forest floor. Like many of the other Mirkwoodians, Gheriwen could find her way through the Black Forest like a spider could its web.

Gheriwen caught her breath in her throat as she swung herself up on a branch. Ascending it with the agility of a cat, she broke the canopy and gazed out over the wood. The wind whipped through her long white-blonde hair as she took in the scene. A thin trail of smoke wound up into the sky. She narrowed her eyes. Silent as a ghost, she slid down the tree and followed her trail back to the palace.

Crossing the bridge, and appearing in front of the gate in the form of a shadow, she whispered the password, and the invisible door swung inwards. She slipped inside and the door shut tightly behind her, blending into its original form. The guards nodded their greetings towards her as she made her way to the throne room of Thranduil.

“Gheriwen,” she said to the bodyguards, “Tracker.” The elf heard the messenger on the other side of the door run to inform the king of her desired audience. About a minute later, three knocks came from the within, and Gheriwen was permitted entrance.

The large double doors opened up into a room, ornately decorated with gold and silver vine motifs that encircled the entity of the room. A thick green carpet led to a large gold chair in which sat a thin, but regal looking man. On his head was a crown of berries and red leaves, for autumn was come again. In the spring he wore a crown of woodland flowers. In his hand he held a carven staff of oak. Gheriwen fell before him in a long and graceful bow.

“My king,” she drawled. Gheriwen was not fond of the old fashioned king. She preferred to interact with the outside races, though she was the only one in the noble court who thought that. Missing her mocking remark, the king gestured for her to stand.

“Tell me what you will.” Gheriwen told him of the trail of smoke she had spied on the southern side of the forest. Thranduil gazed at her, expecting more. He narrowed his eyebrows then and said,

“Do you have another instinctive feeling—”

“Of something coming my lord? Yes, I do.” She kept her eyes averted from the face of her king out of respect.

“Unfortunately, you have never been wrong. We must have company.” He gestured to his messenger and spoke quickly with him. Then he waved his staff and dismissed Gheriwen. “I am sending out the regular group of trackers: Rhanduin, Syverwen, Ghanden, Perragorn, and you. Bring me our visitors.”

The company was spotted on the second day. Rhanduin, Syverwen, Ghanden, and Perragorn ran back to tell the king. Gheriwen stayed to make sure the company meant no harm, and did not enter the palace until she had the king’s consent.

* * *

The company stood at the edge of the forest before it broke away to the little clearing before the great drawbridge that led to the door of the palace.

“Ani Dao,” whispered Bali. “You go.” Nodding, Ani Dao wrapped her cloak around her and emerged from the shadows, making her way slowly towards the gate. Suddenly, like a bolt of lightening from a cloud, an elf shot out of the shadows by the gate and barreled into Ani Dao. Yelling out, Ani Dao recovered quickly and drew her knives. The source of attack was not to be seen. She motioned for the company to stay back and looked around once more. Swinging from the top of the nearest pine, a pair of boots hit Ani Dao in the back, throwing her to the ground. Cursing she rolled over and caught sight of a figure crouching before her in the long shadows. She sheathed her knives and laid her hands out before her palms up, as a sign of disarmament.

“Draw your sword fool,” commanded the shadow. Judging by its voice, it was a she-shadow. Ani Dao peered into the shadows. Two gray eyes stared back. “Fine.” Shooting like an arrow, the figure leapt towards Ani Dao. The assassin kicked out, throwing the figure off her course. The assailant landed on her feet and charged again. Ani Dao threw out a punch that the figure blocked easily. They fought hard for a good minute, giving every kick-punch combination they each knew. Ani Dao had the disadvantage because she did not know whom she was fighting, if she should harm the person, or simply defend herself, and she had been caught off-guard. Finally the figure got the better of the elf and pinned her to the ground, her fist raised in a final punch. The two had rolled into a sliver of light, and the shadow caught a glimpse of the elf’s face. Gasping, she stood up quickly. It was Gheriwen. Ani Dao’s eyes narrowed and she stood as well.

“You!” shouted Gheriwen angrily as she stared amazed at Ani Dao.

“Nice to see you too, Gheriwen,” drawled the assassin. In anger, Gheriwen advanced towards Ani Dao, but an arrow was pointed towards her throat and she stopped suddenly.

“I’d stay back if I were you, she-elf!” Astarielle had emerged as well and was now at Ani Dao’s side. The assassin laughed.

“Very good. But don’t hurt her Astarielle. She means no harm I’m sure.” Ani Dao faced the stone gate.

“Now, Gheriwen, my old friend. How do you open this again?” Gheriwen shouted the password in elvish and the gates swung open to reveal large stone hall. The entire company entered. The guards were young and new, the original having been sent off. Neither recognized Ani Dao. Instead they looked suspiciously at the company. Syverwen snickered at the site of Gheriwen being held at arrow point by another she-elf.

They were brought before Thranduil who welcomed Astarielle kindly, and bid her release Gheriwen. She did so reluctantly then bowed before the king. The elf king ignored Ani Dao. Obviously he remembered her, and also that she had ‘abandoned’ Mirkwood. He looked right past his ex-assassin towards Bali.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~

OCC: Thranduil doesn’t enjoy visitors. Especially dwarves. I don’t think he’d just let us enter Mirkwood unquestioned. Not sure how you want the king to greet you Himaran, but I think he should be suspicious before he accepts the presence of five dwarves in his palace.

I don't wanna leave Mirkwood. We just got here. I have all these questions about Erebor and how we are going to ya know enter, fight, the tactics, and etc... Ooooh ... and I still have the stones!!!

Stealth Stone: Since the mountain is probably surrounded by Uruks, we might need this to actually get into the caves.

Hope Stone: Perhaps this could be used for the dwarven army and people.

Wisdom Stone: This could be used by the king under the mountain to decide what's best for his people, or whatever. If you ahve a better idea for the use of this stone, I can change it's property. Perhaps make it a hallucination stone, creating the image of two dragons fighting alongisde the dwarves, slaying imaginary Uruks, striking fear into the survivors... smilies/biggrin.gif I'm having fun.

I'm at a friends' house and all my questions are at home. I'll post 'em later tonight or tomorrow.

Himaran & Maika - please check your PM's.

I am going to remind everyone that in the Red Book of Westmarch, where the rules for writing in the Shire are located - there are to be no 'magic' tools or weapon, nor is any character to posses 'magical' traits.

Magic objects and traits are fine for pure Fantasy RPG's, but here at the Barrow Downs, the Games are Tolkien-based/friendly and in Tolkien you do not find the use of 'magic'.

Himaran
04-11-2003, 06:24 PM
Maikafanawen; looks like the stones are out, sadly. But the story must go on.

I am now going to post in which:

We leave Mirkwood, and head to Erebor. We will reach a hilltop where we can see the army of about 300 Uruk Hai assaulting the walls of Erebor. We basically charge wildly down the hill and clash with them, slaying them.

Then, we spend time fortifying Erebor from the imminent attack of the larger army.
Then, the Uruk army of about 15,000 will be unleased against Erebor and its 600 defenders.

Then, the last stage of the game begins.

The battle will rage, until at last they destroy the gate. Our company makes a last stand at the gate as the doors collapse, and then retreats into the castle.

Erebor, a basic description.

It is a large mountain, but in recent days a wall has been built around its perimeter; like the wall around Orthanc. That is where the primary battle will take place. Eventually, the wall is broken through in several areas and the Uruks storm into the courtyard. Everyone flees into the mountain, but the Uruks eventually break into it, too. Then we fight them room by room, coridoor by coridoor inside the Mountain. Finally, the army of Gondorians arrives to save the day.

Himaran
04-11-2003, 07:44 PM
I've been thinking. When we get driven into the mountain, and the Uruks storm into it, I think that it would only be logical for some of our company to die.

You see, we will want to protect the families at Erebor. Everyone will be defending a doorway, on each stair. A last stand will have to be made.

So, one more time; Who will die?

I don't want to force you to kill off your characters, so if no one offers, extras can die. But it would make the story better if about 4 members of the company died, during the fight on the wall and inside the mountain.

Who is willing? I need four names. Actually, Kili is already on the list, if he does not POST SOON!!! smilies/wink.gif smilies/tongue.gif

Burzdol: I think Himaran wrote some sort of summary above. This is a lot like the movie's version of the Battle of Helm's Deep, which is cool!

What does everyone (mostly Himaran and the moderators) think about this post.

Post:
“The wall has been breached!” The cry of a dwarf rang out over the battlegrounds. Ani Dao ran to the spot where Uruks had broken through the strong stone of Erebor and were swarming in like ants. She aimed a shaft at a rather large berserker and got him in the neck, just stopping him from taking a slice at a dwarf. The assassin reached behind her for a second arrow to find her last one. Notching it quickly, she shot down a second creature. Ani Dao threw down her bow and unclasped a rope from her belt, secured it to a stone post on the wall, and checked it strength. Then, in one graceful leap, she swung down the wall and into the mass of Uruk Hai, sword flashing. With the skill from many years of training she made a large gap in the onslaught of invaders.

“She-elf!” called a dwarf. “Pull back!” Ani Dao’s eyes searched for a way of escape while she held back the Uruks with her sword.

“Now Ani!” yelled Hathalas. Sheathing her sword, she grasped a hold of the rope the elf tossed her and swung out over the crowd of monsters. With the aid of Hathalas, she took the wall again with her feet, slipping a little on the rain-slicked stone.

“I have no long-distance range weapons,” Ani Dao shouted to Hathalas over the roar of war. The elf looked around and then nodded.

“Come, we’ll meet them down at the breach. They ran to the nearest stairs and joined the dwarves that were there already, fighting with every ounce of strength they had. “Stay close, if we don’t get separated, we have a better chance of domination.” Swords clashed and the screams of dying Uruks echoed around the courtyard. Soon the two were joined by the Gondorians and elves, Burzdol among them.

For a while they held the Uruk Hai back. Hathalas took down even the most threatening with seemingly less effort. His blonde hair streamed behind him magnificently, and his exquisite face held the determination of any other dwarf there.

Ani Dao brought around her elvish blade and severed the head of—a goblin? Goblins had come too with their rusty knives and poisoned arrows. Befuddled, she stepped back for a moment and looked around quickly. The smaller, and spidery like creatures were also making their way into the fortress. Yelling in anger, Ani Dao took them on. Her knives flew rapidly into their necks, and unarmored chests, killing them instantly. She dipped under scimitars and flipped over the monsters, picking up knives in a blur. Not a one of the creatures was sharp enough to follow her movements. She turned for a second triumphantly viewing the thirty goblins she had left in her wake. Focusing again on the masses of enemies, she noticed that she had gotten separated from the company.

At that moment, a great hollow roar came from behind the sheet of rain. Uruk Hai and goblins seemed to cheer in their vulgar language. Men, dwarves, and elves stopped alike to meet the new foe. To their horror, a cave troll of implausible size lumbered into view, bearing a great club. Ani Dao started at the sight. This, of all things, she did not expect. Her first thought was to break through to her companions: they had a better chance if they assaulted this monster in one strong party. A crazier idea came to her head. Taking a deep, steadying breath, she charged. Just side-stepping his swing, she threw the claw end of her rope that wrapped around the beast. When the troll turned, the force pulled her up with it. She kicked the monster hard in his face, and jumped on his head. His long, muscular arms tried to bat her from her position. The assassin took two of her knives and plunged them deep into his rather thin skull. Roaring in pain, the troll lurched his head backwards and then threw it forwards, propelling her into the wall.

The hit shook her up pretty bad, but she determinedly regained her feet. Head spinning, she fought against the Uruks. One tried to skewer her with its pike. She kicked it away, and caught it. In almost the same movement she threw the lance at the oncoming troll. The spear pierced his left eye. Bellowing in anguish, he removed it, black blood pouring from his socket. Ani Dao’s throat lurched at the sight. She broke through the forming ring of Uruk Hai and rejoined her companions. Pushing through with their backs together, they eliminated a good portion of the smaller foe. Finally though, the troll found them: his right eye still good. Summoning what she had left of her strength, Ani Dao threw a knife into the beast’s remaining eye. The moment he whip-lashed back, Hathalas sunk an arrow into its throat, killing it.

“Into the hall! We cannot hold them! Now!” Ani Dao, one leg bleeding profusely, and her head pounding like it would explode, fought strenuously against the foe.

“Ani Dao!” Burzdol called to her. She didn’t hear him. “ANI!!” Grunting loudly, Ani Dao killed two Uruks in one swing before Burzdol pulled her into the hall, into their temporary safety. The doors were shut and barred.

“Where’s Bali? Yes I see him. How long do we have until they break through?” asked a breathless Ani Dao. The dwarf secured another beam on the gate before he answered her.

"Not long," he sighed, "probably only ten to fifteen minutes." Then he addressed everybody, "Quickly! Block this entrance too. Barricade the corridors!" One loud bang sounded upon the gate from the outside. Everyone looked towards it in fear.

"Make that five minutes." The defenders tore apart the mountain's halls. Chairs, tables, cabinets, and every piece of furniture available was stacked up against doors. The elves had refilled their quivers with arrows, and the dwarves were re-supplied with hatchets, all in only five minutes.

Splintering wood sounded throughout the halls, followed by the triumphant screams of goblins and Uruks. Ani Dao shifted and readied her knives. Here they come.

Are the goblins and the troll too far-fetched? How about our vanquishing of the troll? You like? Well, I'll wait until Himaran wants the courtyard to be taken before I post this, if it's okay. Anything I should add?

MAikafanawen:

Your post is excellent, but could you edit it to fit my last post about the company standing in the blown gate? Also, I would like others a chance to fight there too, so perhaps you could split your post into two separate ones. One during the fight, and one to end the fight.

The goblins are fine - and so is the troll, as long as there is only one.

Err... Arvedui III: Please edit your post. Bali DOES NOT want anyone running off to try to kill Kaldon. I did mention that earlier - and remember, Kaldon survives.

Hi guys!

Well, sadly, here it is. Arlómë and Einen's death scene.

_____________________________________________

"We know what we must do Bali. Go, lead the warriors to victory." He watched the rest of the company head up the hall. Goodbye, my friend, he thought. He knew that tonight, most likely, he would die.

Arlómë gripped his sword tightly. He no longer had his bow. He had lost it when the wall was blown. Besides, he had no more arrows, and by the look of things, he would not need the bow anymore anyways. He glanced at his companions-Belegond, Gromfelt, and Einen. He suddenly felt sad for Einen. The boy was young, and Arlómë had brought him to Erebor...to his death, probably. We walked over to Einen.
"Einen, I would not blame you if you joined Bali and the others. I have brought you here..."
"Arlómë," Einen said, cutting him off. "I do not regret joining you, of my own will. I would have no other honor than to fight beside you."
Arlómë nodded. There was nothing else he could say.

As the bangs on the door increased, Belegond said, "Fight well and do not give in, make them wish they had not lived to see us!"
"My friend Belegond, you do not have to worry. Soon, we shall join the Hall of our Fathers. Gromfelt, it is an honor to fight for Erebor. May your axe preserve you this night."

He looked at the other Elves there, the few Elves there. Their attention was on the door as it quickly gave in with a huge crash!

Uruks and goblins swarmed in. The Elven archers opened fire. The beasts in the front fell, pierced with many arrows, but the Uruks charged at such an awesome speed, that the archers had no time to reload. The sound of steel rang out along with yells and screams.

"FOR EREBOR! FOR ELENDIL!" yelled Arlómë. He wanted to make sure that rest of the company could hear the cry. Belegond, Gromfelt, Einen, and Arlómë charged forward.

_____________________________________________

Most of the Elves in the front were dead. Arlómë fought fiercely. He wanted to leave no Uruk alive. Many orcs lay dead, but more streamed in. It seemed as if there was a never-ending army of orcs.

As he pulled his sword out of a goblin's head, he heard a growl behind him. He swiftly turned. An orc faced him. Its sword swung toward his head, but Arlómë deflected it. As the orc's arm swung to the side as a result of Arlómë's blow, Arlómë charged in closely, plunging his sword into its stomach. The orc let out a deep groan, but it looked at Arlómë as it brought up its own sword. It was going to take Arlómë with it. Letting his sword stay in the belly of the orc, Arlómë reached up and with his right arm, grabbed the orc's sword hilt. With his left arm, he reached to his belt, pulled his knife, and slit the orc's throat.

As the orc fell to the ground, Arlómë pulled his sword out and looked up. There was a gap in the orc line. For a split second, it seemed as if they had stopped them. As if they had won. But then more orcs plunged in. These, Arlómë saw were archers.

He looked around for his 3 other companions. They were still with him, fighting with other Uruks. Einen looked at Arlómë. The young man was bleeding from a cut on his side, but he seemed to be ok. Then, Arlómë saw the ork archers take aim at his friends.
"Einen, get down!" Arlómë yelled.
Einen glanced back at the archers, then back at Arlómë. Their eyes met.
"Arlómë..." Einen began, but he was cut short. An arrow pierced him in the side of the head, then another into his chest. He fell to the ground...dead.

"NOOOOOO..." Arlómë charged forward. He saw Belegond meet an Uruks attack. The Ranger was wounded in the arm. Gromfelt, he did not see, but he hoped he still lived.

Arlómë cut down the front orc archers, but more filled in the gaps. He fought with a rage that he had never felt before. He fought on, no longer for Erebor, but for his friends who were there with him.

Suddenly, an arrow pierced him in the leg. Arlómë fell to the ground but he caught himself with his hands. He took his knives and threw them into the advancing orcs. He could hear the sound of Belegond fighting behind him. Somehow, orcs had gotten behind Arlómë without him noticing. And now with his wounded thigh, he could barely walk. He was surrounded.

He fought from his position on the ground, but it was useless. His wound sapped his strength from him, but still many orcs fell by his sword. He heard the zipping sound of an arrow soar throught the air, then plunge into his stomach. He dropped his sword...he no longer had the strength to wield it.

An orc approached, sword in hand. Arlómë watched it come. He could do nothing. He tried to pick up his weapon, but he could not. The orc stood above him, sword poised for the kill. This is it, Arlómë thought.
"ELENDIL..." Arlómë yelled. The orc cut him short, its sword in his chest.

_____________________________________________

He lay there. His life was fading. He could no longer hear Belegond fight. He could hear nothing. Orcs rushed past him to take on the others at the top of the hall. He could not even move. He couldn't even lift his head to see his wounded chest. Darkness gathered before his eyes. He was finally dying.

Suddenly, out of the darkness he heard his father's voice.
"Arlómë...Arlómë...Come, take your rest with your Fathers in the Halls of the Dunedain."
And with his last breath, Arlómë passed.

*sniff* *sniff*

Alas, here follows the fall of Gromfelt the dwarf. It was really fun playing with you guys and gals.
-------------------
Grom looked at Bali and others departing. This was it; There would be no respite, no rest, no chance to see the dawn. He knew what he had to do. They would have their time. Arlome and Belegond spoke, but he didn't hear them. He took a stance, and stared at the vast blackness that came toward them. Flithy vermin! He thought. He took off his hat, and looked at Yanthie's patch still holding firm. So would he.

The uruks came, running blindly toward them. With a wild yell, "EREBOR!" He lost all thought, and swung his axe at the first line. Grom dodged a blade just in time to embed his weapon the creature's chest. Another orc already replaced him, making a lunge for Gromfelt's neck. Parry, repost, hack, swing, parry again, lunge. The cycle continued for what seemed an eternity until suddenly he heard Alorme yell, "Einen, get down!" " Archers! He though at once, but his reflexes came too late.

In mid-swing he felt something hit his shoulder then his chest hard, and he fell backwards, dropping his axe. A great uruk loomed over him, a evil grin on his face. Gromfelt was in such pain as he had never known, his limbs wouldn't respond. What could he do? The orc raised his sword, and Grom spat on him, there was nothing else for it. Then, Daggers!. As the orc lunged downward, two daggers inscribed with the blessings of Dale met his throat. However, as Grom got to his axe, another of the seemingly endless orcs stepped forward. He couldn't fight any longer, this was clear. The arrow had caused such pain. With a last hoarse cry, " Kazad Ai-Menu! For Erebor!" he charged. The orc saw him coming, and cleaved upward, his blade getting past the fine armor.

The dwarf was dead before he hit the ground.
--------------
Edit: Wow, Earendil. That was great. Gah! I'm gonna have to watch something happy now. *Goes off and gets a charlie bown movie.* Really Good Job!

I dont think this fits in with the other death scenes....but I think you will find a place for it.

The Enemy was getting less and less now but so were the defenders. Just a few were left standing. He searched around for the other but they were not standing. A few more came but now everything was earily silent. And then the horns came.

"The Gondorians are here!" he heard an elfs voice cry out. His heart leaped for joy, they had won the mountian and now all was safe. He searched the carnage for his companions and found them dead strewn across the floor. The elves left and went out side and he was the only one there. Then he heard a voice cry out.

"Belegond!" he looked to the top of the stairs, it was Yanithe. She ran down to him but before she could get to him a half dead uruk thatlaid on the floor pulled her down. Belegond saw it but could not stop it. She cried ot for help but before she knew it a knife was being held to her throat. The uruk snarled at him and kissed Yanithes head. Belegond was filled with rage and tried to fire an arrow but his left arm he could use no longer. She was struggling hard but it seemed as though this uruk still wanted to kill no matter what. Belegond ran to the two and the uruk drew his sword closer to her neck.

The Belegond picked up a dagger from the floor and aimed it a the uruk. It hit him in the centre of the forehead and he roared out loud. Belegond then smiled at Yanithe and walked back to his bow. But he never reached it.

"No" screamed Yanithe as the uruk with one last dying breath plunged his sword into Belegonds back. At first he did not know what was happening but then he placed his hands on his stomach and felt the blood and blade. The uruk fell behind him and so Belegond fell against the wall. He could feel life rushing away from him. He could hear a soft voice.

"Belegond, please open your eyes, Belegond!" he opened them and Yanithe beside him. Tears filled her eyes.

"I...I am sorry..."

"What for?" she asked tears streaming down her face.

"For.." he could taste blood in his mouth and it was getting hard to speak "....for not being here now, not being able to be with you, I have caused you another great pain.."

"No, no you havn't..."

Belegond reached into his pocket and pulled out her brooch then pointed at his chain.

"here", he said giving the horse to her, "and give this to Kili..."

She lent forward and embraced him and he did so back.

"I love you" she wispered. " And I would give my all, my life if we could have just one more day..."

"I..l..love you so much,....I..I Love.." he said. And with that his last dying breath he passed away. He could see his mother and father and he was now at peace.

Taa Daa!!! Frodess probably needs to add something after this post. I have already PMed her. And in true mod style Frodess please check your PM's.

I would like to do my thankyou's now incase I wake up in the morning, and its all closed down *sniff* and plus Im waiting for the 300th episode of the Simpsons to come on on Sky so might as well do something constructive.

Frodess You were a great person to RP with and Yanithe was an amazing character. Belegond will miss her alot smilies/wink.gif Looking forward to see what happens in the Escape of Nurn.

astarielle You posted well and your character was a true elf! Thankyou.

Earendil Halfelven It was good to have another Ranger about, shame we both died though. Arlome and Einen were both valient characters.

Dain Ironfoot I enjoyed your posts and you played a good dwarf. I especially liked your loyalty to the company.

Carlas Durin was an interesting character, and a good one. I guess I will see you in The Quest for the Ainerg!

Arvedui III Gromfelt was great, sad to see him die though he was a brave dwarf!

Burzdol I loved your character, him and Ani Dao made a good pair.

maikafanawen What can I say? I think you are an amazing writer, you really are. Ani Dao really came to life for me and I am glad that we will still be RPing together.

Kili Andy, if it wasn't for me you would not be in this game, but I glad you were. It was nice to know someone. Kili was good, funny and I am really suprised he didn't get drunk....

and last but not least....

Himaran If it wasn't for you this game would have never got started (or finished. I swear it was going so slowly at one point!) But you persivered with it. You were a strong leader, both in yourself and with Bali. Thankyou.

I'd like to thankyou all, as this was my first RPG at the Downs and it was a most memorable one. I would love to RP with you all again and I hope we do.

Now the Simpsons is on so goodbye.....for tonight.....

Hullo. I would like to thank each of you for one of the best RP experiences ever. I'm so sad that it's over. . .I really feel like I was there! So, here's my final post, for I know not where to put it. Here it is:

Arlómë and Einen were dead. So was Gromfelt, her first friend of the journey. She still remembered seeing him wearing the hat.

And he was gone. Belegond, the one she loved but barely knew, was dead. But it was not like the loss of the past. She knew that when she would think of him, she would smile, for he was now at peace.

I will see him again.

Yanithë gave Killi Belegond's chain, as he had asked.

"I never knew you well, but a friend of Belegond's is a friend of mine. As such, I feel I am in your debt." Yanithë also gave him most of her share of jewels. When she had finished, a small dwarf by the name of Bifin approached her.

"He wanted you to have it," he explained as he gave her Gromfelt's hat. She bowed to him respectfully, and put the hat on her own head. Her brooch she held tightly.

Three days had passed. She needed the time to recooperate. She knew her severed hand would make things difficult, but she would find a way to work around it.

Finally, it was time to leave. She found Bali outside, and spoke to him.

"Sire, I thank you for allowing me to be part of your company, and for everything. I must leave now. I'm going home. If ever you need me again, send word to Rohan, and there I shall be. Farewell!" With this, Yanithë mounted her steed and turned to the west, beginning the long journey which lay ahead of her.

I'm going home.

Alright, Himaran, here's my final post. *tears* This was my first RPG and it was so much fun. I had the best time ever!!! *sniff* Okay, anyways:

Post:
Ani Dao burst into tears anew and threw her arms around Burzdol’s neck, kissing him all over. When she pulled away, Burzdol looked at her comically and asked,

“Does that mean yes?” Ani Dao nodded and pulled him close again, kissing him slower. Burzdol slid the ring on her finger. Wow, thought Ani Dao, of all the things to happen on this expedition, this was least expected.

“Where to now?” asked Ani Dao, examining her new ring.

“Easy,” said Burzdol taking her hand. “Mirkwood. We go home. There we can get married, and then we’ll decide what to do. Do whatever you please. We could travel again, or, just stay put for a while.” Ani Dao smiled.

“Fine, I’ll get packed.” Burzdol cupped her face in his hands and looked into her deep blue eyes.

“I love you.” Smiling ecstatically to herself, Ani Dao was given back her knife and returned to her room. The assassin stuffed her belongings into a leather bag as quickly as she could, then slung it over her shoulder. Waiting for her at the bottom of the stairway was her future husband. The thought beguiled her. She was thrilled. When she had come on this trip she was Ani Dao, rebellious maverick she-elf assassin of Mirkwood. Now she was completely transformed. And I belong, she thought incredulously. Taking Burzdol’s arm they made their way to the stables, where Bali had given them a pair of horses for their ride back to Mirkwood.

“Thank you, but I think one will do just fine,” said Burzdol, taking the reins of a beautiful white steed. He climbed on, and Ani Dao mounted behind her. “Shall we?”

Off into the sunset rode the elves, the oranges, reds, and yellows pointing the way towards a new life: a life of happiness, of love, and of peace. The horse’s strides were steady and sure. When they reached the top of a hill that looked over the forest of Mirkwood, and when one looked back could see the proud mountain of Erebor, Burzdol stopped the horse and dismounted. Ani Dao looked at him confused.

“Something wrong?” Burzdol shook his head and extended his arm, gesturing for her to get down. In one graceful leap, she stood beside him. He pointed into the sunset.

“Let’s not go home, just yet,” he draped an arm around her shoulders and she sighed.

“What more do you want to do? We’ve seen the Shire, stayed in Bree and Rivendell, been attacked by bandits, climbed Charadras, walked through Mirkwood, and fought successfully against an army of fifteen thousand Uruks alongside dwarves,” she counted off each event on her fingers. Burzdol took the remaining three in his hand and kissed them.

“Yes, but, we haven’t watched one…romantic…sunset,” said Burzdol. The two shared another kiss as the firey orb sank behind the golden treetops of Mirkwood.

~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Now, wasn't that beautiful? (if I do say so myself smilies/wink.gif ). Well, farewell my good companions! It's been swell! smilies/biggrin.gif I am definitely looking forward to MORE RPGS with 'you guys' (I'm from washington DC originally, but now I'm getting used to saying ya'll). Namarie!

Final Post

Kili sat in his quaters, he had packed everything and was ready to make his way to Ithilien to bury Belegonds ashes near his father. That is what he had always to Kili. But Kili had never expected him to die so young, and their friendship although a long one seemed to short. Then he heard a knock on his door. And Yanithe entered.

"Belegond bade me give you this." she handed the chain to him.

"Thankyou my lady," Kili placed it around his neck. As Yanithe was about to leave he said "Yanithe wait. Belegonds ashes will be buried in the woods of Ithilien you can come there any time you want."

She smiled at Kili, "Thankyou, maybe one day I will, but for now I return home.." and with that and a quick farewell she left.

Kili collected his belongings and made his way down to the hall were he met Bali and the rest of the company.

"Goodbye all, you have all become dear friends to me and I am sad to leave but I must put my best friend to rest." he nodded at the silver jar he clasped between his hands.

"Well then goodluck," said Bali embracing him.

"Thankyou, and farewell."

Kili made his way out of the mountain and smelt the fresh air. First he would go to Rohan where Duelen would be. She would be truely upset to learn of Belegonds death, and then he would ride her to Ithilien.

"Ahh Erebor saved, but at a cost..." he sighed and walked of down the cobbled road to Rohan.

There we go, and thanks to everybody. This was really enjoyable!

Okay, after Astarielle's post we're all set!

And now, a tribute to my fellow gamers:

I may have kept the game moving at times, but without all of you posting it never would have existed. I loved the way you all made your characters bounce of one another and react to each other. All of your last posts were truly touching. You are excellent writers, with a bright future ahead in Barrow-Downs rpging.

I know that for many of you, including myself, that this was their first Rpg game to have played in. I think that you all did a marvelous job, despite that it was your first go. I am sure that we all have good memories from this short two-month period; I know I do.

I look forward to playing with you in other games.

I bow to you,

Erebor crew,

Once again, my hats are off to you. I think this is the one and only game in the history of the Shire to finish a day or two early!

(I still want to know where that rascal Kaldon is!)

I think Kaldon will be in...........The Road to Erebor Part II! Or maybe it will be the Road FROM Erebor, if you get my meaning. Oh well, this was fun. Now I shall go and eat another plate of potato salad and make up a new character. Too bad Arlome died, but it was still cool to write a death scene, in a freaky way. See y'all somewhere in the Downs. smilies/cool.gif

If you think about it, Kelly is almost like Kenny. Hmmm... smilies/wink.gif

I have a question, which I forgot to ask. How do I go and rate other members? I'd like to do that for everyone because I think we all deserve it.

Sorry for the wait, It look like i missed loads. Nevermind here is my leaving post as required.

*******************

Astarielle sat gazing over the battlefield. Her eyes wondering over the strewn bodies of the Uruks, not lingering on the scene of death, to Mirkwood her true home. Astarielle was undecided about where to go or what to do. Her heart told her to go back to Mirkwood and find solace under the eaves of the wood but something inside her forbade her. She stood, her hands leaning on the cold scarred battlements. She did not belong here nor there. As the sun's last glittering rays fell behind the hill, Astarielle knew that her time her had also set.

Swiftly climbing down, Astarielle entered the mountain for the last time. Torches were lit along the corridor, giving off a muted glow. Most of the company had already left but Astarielle went to find Bali.

"You my friend have changed my view on Dwarves and your craft forever. Thankyou, I will never forget the troubles and hardship we faced together."

Astarielle had never felt so sincere in her entire life, but somehow it pleasded her. Her heart warmed. She didn't wait for Bali to reply but left swiftly and silently to the stables. She mounted her horse and galloped to the front of the gate. Holding her sword high, Talhandir reared up, before plunging off into the night, in a final salute. She did not know where she was headed but always in heart there was a special place for all the the company, those that lived and those that fell, forever.

hope that was ok. This was a brilliant RPG. I really think we should do a sequel. Loved playing with you all

Well, Piosenniel, the game is done. You may lock it and move it to Elvenhome whenever you feel like it, I guess. I am proud to see it go down in the history of the Barrow-Downs, as a successful mission.

Once again, thank you all for your great playing, I was proud to lead you all.

Adios!

A sequal would be excellent shame Belegond wouldn't be in it *sniff*. Thanks all. And also to the Mods Child and Pio for watching over us like angels ( what makes you think I am sucking up?) smilies/tongue.gif smilies/tongue.gif smilies/tongue.gif

I will leave the Discussion thread open for another day, in case anyone has any further things they would like to say. It will then be deleted.

Once again, this has been an excellently played and run game. (And it can now be enjoyed forever in Elvenhome!)

I hope to see all of you bringing your gaming expertise to other games in the Shire!

A final note:

Although I doubt that there will be a sequal to the Road to Erebor, I am planning an Rpg that will feature Kaldon once more. And perhaps his doom...

Surviving members of Bali's company are welcomed to join!!
