Although I dislike cutting them out of the story, Piosenniel's got a point. We can't wait for them since we now have a deadline.

Anarya's character has become crucial since she represents the Elvenking's realm. She alone in Rudh's company is actually from the northern kingdom. Any hopes of contacting her?

Khelek/Greatwarg's character has been putting a certain spice and flavor to the group. I'd hate to lose him too. smilies/frown.gif

What happened to Sauche/Leighlei's character? She comes in sometimes - but is she interested. This character has alot of potential (and things she can really do!). Now that her group has been captured... what more can happen?

Mornovarion/Dark-Caranthir seems to be waiting for more inputs in his part of the story.... perhaps its due time that some things start to happen in Thranduil's kingdom? (Oh wait... that's my job! smilies/tongue.gif Okay, ,okay, I'm posting! I'm posting!) But perhaps he needs to be PM'ed just as well.
And how about LuthienTinuviel/Tinuiel?

It seems these last two got stuck when Gilthalion had them stay put at the Elvenking's place. Maybe we should have some stuff start happening there.... hmmmm.

Okay, I'll go for whatever the rest of you people vote for. I hope though we can have fill-ins at least for the characters.

Our group is now at the foot of Dol Guldur...unfortunately so is Wargarz's encampment. But we don't know exactly where the orc encampment is, nor does he know our location. Muru the vampire (a protegee of Thuringwethil, er, remember the vampire in Luthien and Beren's time?) knows of our presence through her minions (those doggone bats and other dark creatures of the undead... and Taralphiel has some skills of foresight and what I call "scrying" (sort of like a telepathic talent) which almost gets us in trouble. *catches breath*

This is a well established Game, and it is taking on new players.

If you wish to join it, I would suggest you read the Game up to this point to get an understanding of what is going on. And also please be very familiar with the rules for posting in the Shire that are in The Red Book of West March.

Then you will need to decide on a character that will fit into the game well. Once you've done that, you can use this Shire form to develop your character:

If i could make a suggestion, you might be able to join up with the elves currently captured by the orcs. And if you are a male character, (and i know this makes me sound shallow but I am just trying to et some subplots going here) you could become a love interest and cause a love tri-angle, square, whatever and the girls could try to win your affection or whatnot. I am only writing down the first thing that comes to mind here so don't yell at me if it isn't what anybody wants to do....

Mirkwood Folks!

Okay, since most of the characters seem to be waiting for each other to post, I’m dividing the group sub-plots and writing the outline…. NOW I HOPE THIS WILL HELP IN GETTING EVERYONE TO POST!!!!

you can choose to meet up with Gaya’s group and help in the retrieving of vital information from Dol Guldur….or pop in at Thranduil’s Kingdom where DarkCaranthir/Mornovarion & Tinuiel are. A few Tolkien characters will be there, e.g. Legolas, Thranduil and perhaps Gandalf. But no one is allowed to play those characters… they are “cameo” roles of sorts. I’ll be handling them should they appear (which is but a few times, for the story’s sake).

Gayahithwen & Daegon/Amaryllis/Sauche (hey, you’re still with us right?) & Rin’s, (phew!)

Your group is now on the way southward. Along the way you’ll be meeting several orc patrols that have slipped the Elvenking’s patrtrol. The group that has captured you is bringing you to Muru, as commanded by Warzgarz. They need to “interrogate” (okay that also means using torture!) to find out more of Thranduil’s defenses and army. Rinurion and Amaryllis maybe in great danger here, in that aspect since they are “close” to Thranduil.

Now it’s up to you guys to do some heroics here! If you reach Dol Guldur as captives, you might not get the chance to help save your precious Mirkwood. Find a way to get to Rudh’s group and team up to penetrate Warzgarz’s army, get the information about the upcoming war and bring it to Thranduil.

I’ll try to get a friend of mine to post as the orc characters… if not I got to think up something.
(Darn it how come there are so few who want to be villains?)

Anarya, Taralphiel, Khelek/GW & Rudh,,

WE are now near the foot of Dol Guldur. There will be some troubles coming up to delay a direct course there. It is of utmost importance that this group reach Dol Guldur and solve the mysteries surrounding the events that threaten the Northern realm. A few suprises may come up… perhaps a Tolkien character may appear. (Hmmmm, , a few nasties should be on the way too… spiders anyone? Or more trolls? Warg riders??? Ohhh and BATS! Hehehehe… decisions, decisions…)

I hope we get to team up with Gaya’s group soon enough.

Mornovarion & Tinuiel,

Muru will once again try to get a hold in some inhabitants of Mirkwood. She’ll keep sending her minions… a visitor may be due to come (a prequel to the War of the Rings perhaps?). It will be vital to get Thranduil in realizing this, plus trying to solve how it is being done and what can be a defensive solution (elven magic vs. the dark powers of Dol Guldur?). I really wish Tinuiel would get into the story once more, else Mornovarion is going to have a wild time doing it all in the Elvenking’s realm.

Thalionyulma: I read the last couple pages of the RPG and I believe that some of the elves are captured. I would like to play an elf. Maybe my character would be able to band together with other elves and help the captives escape? I'm not sure. Let me know and I will post a bio for my character.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your inquiries!

Iarbarion, like Tara said show your bio.. I’m actually looking forward in getting your character in the story. Regarding on whether you’ll help them escape or not… remember you may find yourself out numbered (unless you can talk it over with the group you plan to join in and plan how to outwit the orcs holding them captive). About the subplot between whatever will happen between you and another character (love angles, and so forth) – I leave that to you guys. Just keep to the story! Its more fun when we see it start to develop along the story, and I dislike dictating too much on how it should be done. I’ve given the story plot/quest… just use that as your guide. I’m not strict smilies/wink.gif , so don’t worry, I like players who have plenty of writing imagination! (even the wild ones!) PM me if you really need help, big time, else I think Amaryllis or Gaya can help you.

Name: Laryelion

Age: Young for an elf (about 500 years)

Race: Elf

Gender: Male

Weapons: A Lothlorien longbow (about half the size of his body) and a small dagger that he keeps across his back.

Appearence: Very tall (about 6'2") About average weight (near 200 lbs.) Extremely bright, green eyes and blonde hair (almost white.) Wears an elven cloak and brooch.

Personality/Strengths/Weaknesses: Very brave and helpful when a creature is in trouble. Suspicious at first, but after a while he is extremely friendly. Will help almost any creature that is not evil such as dwarves, men, elves, etc.

History: Has grown up like any normal elf. Both his parents loved him and helped him through the hard times. They now live in Lothlorien. His grandparents all still live in Lothlorien except for his Mother's father who was killed by Uruk-hai.

Sorry for the delay in replying... I am currently undergoing difficulties with my connection. Actually, I can't seem to log into BD and answer/post anything! This was my upteenth time in several days...
Your bio looks pretty good... but I have a question. What would an elf of Lothlorien be doing in the northern woods of Mirkwood? The elves of Lorien have always kept to their border... do you have a mission of sorts, or business to be in Mirkwood? Remember, Thranduil, since the Battle of the Last Alliance hardly kept in touch with his kin in Lorien or Rivendell.

Perhaps you could sort of add a subplot/sub-story to the why smilies/wink.gif . This doesn't mean I'm rejecting your character... blend him to the story as you like, but its got to be "realistic". Remember the Elves of the Greenwood are rustic... so your bow is okay, as long as there are no magical weapons that could make you out of place.

Thali, Laryelion is in Mirkwood because he was tracking the Uruk-hai who killed his grandfather. He tracked them with a small company and lost them in Mirkwood. He has yet to venture back.

Perhaps you can say that, by chance you were told by the Lady Galadriel to send a message to Thranduil or was given a mission to spy on what’s happening in the southern part of Mirkwood? There is a new rule from the Barrow Wight:

All profiles are now limited to storing no more than 10 Private Messages (PMs). If you currently have more than 10 in your profile, people will not be able to send you new PMs. To receive new PMS, you must have 10 or less stored in your profile.

This was done because PM traffic was accounting for almost as much as public traffic.

We cannot contact you if you do not clear out your PM's.

Notice to all players: FINAL END DATE

The game had originally contracted to finish in 3 months - I had that figured out from about the 03/09 date when Thali was able to start posting on a regular basis.

This means that it is scheduled to end the first week in June. However, I have been following along on the posting and it looks as if the end goal is not yet in sight:

When the mystery of Dol Guldor has been revealed and Thranduil has been told of the real danger to his kingdom shall the story end.

So, I am going to extend the closing date until Sunday; 6/22 - midnight, east coast time. The goal must be reached by then, as I will be closing the Game at that point. On 06/23 I will move it to Elvenhome.

Do what you need to do to get the storyline there.

Do keep to this proposed end date.

I don't know if you have read the Barrow Wight's topic in the Barrow Downs about the expenses for this site - but, RPG's represent a certain amount of band width (that is, we take up a certain amount of the Barrow Down's network capacity to transmit data) and extra bandwidth, extra capacity, costs extra money.

So, I am going to start holding people more tightly to their agreed on end dates - the number of new games we can put on for play will become more dependent on closing down games in a timely manner.

Since you only have 5 weeks left to finish this game (It is closing 06/22), I would suggest you pick up their characters.

Rules in the Shire for RPG's (Found in the Red Book of Westmarch topic) state that:

5.) . . .Any character that goes missing for an extended period of time can be "killed off" or "lost" and will be out of the game. In the alternative, someone else can take over your character if need be until you get back.

Please do use the other characters if they are necessary to get this game to a satisfying conclusion.

*nods* that does seem logical. However, with characters such as Mayla Took I am not so sure. There are also one or two posts of dwarves on the first and second pages if my skimming is correct, and they have completely been lost in the game!

If this is supposed to be readable fan-fiction, then these posts have to be removed.... Piosenniel, what do we do here??? Should we PM the respective authors to tell them?

Leave the others behind and use the characters that you need.

I already, when this game was moved to the Shire, PM'd all the players. There is no need to PM them again. They can simply read the Discussion Thread if they are at all interested, and see what has happened with their character.

Since you few seem to be the only ones interested: Use the other characters to bring this Game to a satisfying end.

If, by 6/22, the game is not finished (has not reached an end goal) then both the discussion thread snd the game will be deleted.

If you can bring the story to some sort of close, they we can save it in Elvenhome.

Sorry for the (one?) week absence... been crazy with the training and tech exams. I'm getting a breather for the moment (luckily, the company let's us use the PCs at the employees' lounge for relaxing, but no chatting), I just finished another exam today... and another is coming up in 5 days. I'll be posting alot more, specially on the villains (which is long over due)... and cameo characters will be appearing (as necassary for the story/plot). The storyline with Morno and Tinuiel needs to get a move on too... I'll get to that and "weave" it into the storyline.

...and Pio's right... no need to PM the others. They've been PM'ed several times. I've done this too. It may come necessary that some characters do die as the story comes near to revealing Dol Guldur's secret. I just need time to figure out who, why and how.

They won't just die... it'll have to have a reason...
