Did anyone besides me notice that when Aragorn was reaching for the ring it started whispering his name? I didn't notice it until I got it on video, but it creeps me out to this day!

Yep, I noticed, it is kind of weird but I guess it makes sense because he is Isildur's heir. Besides, they had to show that Aragorn could resist the temptation of the ring, and they also had to show that that temptation was great.

I think it whispered to Boromir too......

I loved the way it whispered Elessar, tempting him to take the ring and go and be king. <P>Did anyone else's hands really itch to just lean forward and grab the ring? Its amazing how much the idea of the irrestistable power of the ring has actually transferred to the movie itself. If the movie can pull people into the concept of what Frodo (and the rest of the world) has to fight, its a darn good movie. Kind of an inside view of their struggle.

I only noticed it the very last time I watched it, which was last weekend. It's crazy, because I've seen it so many times but I just now noticed it.

I noticed it in theaters (which is really impressive, considering the really, really bad sound quality the theater had last year). I thought it was really interesting.<P>dunadan: When do you think it whispered to Boromir? I haven't heard it at all, but it'd be really cool if it were true.<P> <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:<HR>Did anyone else's hands really itch to just lean forward and grab the ring?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE><P>No, not really. I did think that, if I had a hold of the Ring, I could resist its power. I still do, somewhat. Maybe I'm more like Boromir than I'd like to admit.

i think when boromir was walking up with the wood, or somewhere around that time. It was really quiet, i only heard it because the surround sound was all the way up.

If you turn on the subtitles you can hear/see alot more of what is said by not only the ring but by other characters in the backround sometimes.

Dunadan, I thought the Ring had a little whisper to Boromir when they were crossing the Caradhras and it fell from Frodos neck into the snow(?)I'm unsure what the whisper was though!

At one point the Ring whispers "Baggins...Baggins" to Frodo, tempting him to put it on. I wonder why it doesn't call *him* by his first name.<P>-Lily<p>[ March 29, 2003: Message edited by: Lily Bracegirdle ]

Maybe it's he is only known to Sauron by his last name?

"Shire... Baggins!"<P>Gollum didnt know he was called Frodo at that point. Actually, didn't he only know Bilbo? Or Mr. Baggins, whatever it was...

Yeah, Gollum only knew that the creature who stole his ring was a Baggins and that he came from the Shire.<P>Yeah, the first time I noticed the "whissssspering" it was with subtitles. Now in my head I'm always mumbling "Elessar...." at that part.

The Ring also whispers to Boromir when he's talking to Frodo at Amon Hen. It's when Boromir starts acting all psycho and junk.

If you turn the audio all the way up, you hear it say "Read the books, Aragorn." ;)
