Quoth the Raven
Did anyone besides me notice that during all the elves but Legolas had long robes??? He had his tunic, but all the rest of the elves wore elaborate things. I would think a prince would need to wear such things.
Nevermore

If you are speaking of the time at Elrond's council, it could be that the other elves wore long stuff because they stay at Rivendell, whereas Legolas had to travel to get there, meaning that it would be easier for him to journey in shorter clothing.
~M

I noticed that he was the only one with his legs apart...

He did have a robe though, I remember reading about it in the movie guide. He wore it over his tunic, because, yah, he did just get there from a long travel.
Personally, I loved that robe. And all the other elvish robes too, I should get one.
*runs off to make robe*

Ah yes, but didn't other elves arrive with him? Remember Legolas getting off the horse when he arrived? There were other elves behind him.

He was wearing the robe when he alighted from his horse. If you look closely, you can see that. He isn't wearing a robe-type thing during the actual Quest because it just isn't practical. It would just get in the way.

Legolas was a Mirkwood rube, who didn't know how Elves were dressing in the big city. Hopefully, once he gets to Minas Tirith he'll manage to put a little style in his wardrobe.
I'd just like to know how that Elven tunic can go through Moria, Rohan, and Helm's deep without becoming an Elven rag.

Ha!
Sorry, got a little carried away there.
