Actually, I do not know if there is any rule about that (the rules of Quiz Room do not state anything about it, I checked), nor do I actually know whether my fellow members do that. However, I consider it a little unethical and never do it - except that if I need to remember the English name of something I only remember it in Finnish, or sometimes if I'm a bit unsure of my guess and I can check it without spoiling myself with the real answer. (Like, if the question was "Who ate a nice cake?" and I would think that Frodo did so in Rivendell, I might check the Rivendell scene if it's there, but if the question is for example "Which important thing happened in T.A. 2056?" and I think maybe some Orcs attacked Gondor, I do not check it because if I looked at the Tale of Years, I'd see the correct answer automatically.) But I guess you must develop a policy that fits with what you yourself think is right - as long as there's no official ruling about it, everything is accepted.
