Gollum the Great has just left Hobbiton.
Sorry if I seem ignorant (I just can't remember), but are we allowed to look these things up in books for the purpose of answering?

Actually, I do not know if there is any rule about that (the rules of Quiz Room do not state anything about it, I checked), nor do I actually know whether my fellow members do that. However, I consider it a little unethical and never do it - except that if I need to remember the English name of something I only remember it in Finnish, or sometimes if I'm a bit unsure of my guess and I can check it without spoiling myself with the real answer. (Like, if the question was "Who ate a nice cake?" and I would think that Frodo did so in Rivendell, I might check the Rivendell scene if it's there, but if the question is for example "Which important thing happened in T.A. 2056?" and I think maybe some Orcs attacked Gondor, I do not check it because if I looked at the Tale of Years, I'd see the correct answer automatically.) But I guess you must develop a policy that fits with what you yourself think is right - as long as there's no official ruling about it, everything is accepted.

"unethical"

Quite dramatic to call it unethical. . .

It is up to you what you dio, but remember it should be fun for everybody.
I do think it is alright to look in the books, but it depends on the situation and I don't have a general rule about it. Well, I do have one rule and that is that I never use the encyclopedia of Arda to anything else than to come up with a question.

Ha, actually, I often leaf through the books when I'm making uations but seldom when Im answering them... interesting. And btw I agree that "unethical" sounds dramatic, so that why I added the "a little" before it...

Are you sure you did not mean wuestions?

Okay, but as the history of Rohirrim is not exactly my specialisation... but now... hm... wait... I think I am starting to remember whom it concerned...

Okay, in that case, let me think *walks away, muttering 'just what the heck that guy's name was?'*

Oh, I know this one, is it Folca? I know that he refused to kill a living beast until he slew all the orcs in Rohan, once that was completed he went on a boar hunt and died of wounds that the boar dealt to him. Is this what you were thinking of, Lommy?
