Why all the anger?
I've read a lot on various discussion threads about people being really angry with the way in which the story was changed from the book to the films. I am curious to know why this is.
After initially being disappointed at TTT myself by the changes, I soon realised that, since this is a film made for the film-going public generally, and not just Tolkien fans, it was bound to be tailored to suit the wider (and probably more numerous) audience. The fact that these films have been made (and the story/characters altered) does not mean the books have been re-written. They are still there to be enjoyed.
So why the angry reaction?
[ January 14, 2003: Message edited by: The Saucepan Man ]
