There is many surprising 'revelations' in Tolkien's works that never cease to surprise me.

Firstly, I've just realised that

By Fingon at the battle is parallel to

Aure Entuluva! Day shall come again!

uttered by by Hurin the Steadfast, which happens to be also parallel to the sentence of Turin Master of Doom in his utter despair,

Now comes the night

Secondly, it is funny that Tolkien gives us a hint that Numenor
is what we now refer to as 'Atlantis' by saying that it was called Atlante by later Men.

Thirdly, I was reading the LOTR index and wondering who Thorongil was, when it came to me like a flash that it MUST be Aragorn son of Arathorn.

Anyone have any other thing like these?
