Trick question- Melkor was afraid of Ungoliant, but it wasn't due to arachnophobia, but rather podophobia, an irrational fear of feet. And seeing as Ungoliant had 8 of them, it's no surprise she upset his psyche mightily.
Q: When the One Ring was destroyed, why didn't the other rings of power explode?
