ok, like everyone else has been saying, there are many types of dragons in middle earth created by tolkien.

the types are countless. Glaurung, the father of all dragons, winged or not, was wingless, yet still held great power. Smaug, a winged fire dragon, also held great power.

Its like comparing humans, we are not all alike, and some of us look totally different.
