Son of Númenor has just left Hobbiton.

Danny DeVito could have made an excellent Frodo.
You're not the only one who thinks Danny got snubbed.

I put forth the following suggestions in the "Cast the First Hobbit" thread:
Quote:
Bilbo: Vern Troyer
Gandalf: John Cleese
Oakenshield: Tim Curry (equipped with the accent he had in Congo)
Thranduil: Gene Hackman
The only reply I got was this:
Quote:
I'm sorry. I just don't see Vern Troyer as Bilbo. Though he is short, he simply doesn't personify the character for me. Oh well, to each his own.
Obvious, dripping sarcasm is all washed up, apparently.

I seriously cannot imagine anyone else playing these lovable characters. Personally, I think the casting for the Hobbits was perfect & nobody could've played these roles any better. Of course, I could be biased, because Sean Astin has always been one of my favorite actors. But really, I don't think any other actors could've pulled it off and made it as believable as these guys did.

Oh thank you hookbill that has displaced my enduring mental image of Graham Norton Mister Frodoing...... Blessed Brian booming....

I would have liked Bill Nighy to reprise his role as Sam..... (BBC Radio Version) alongside the divine Hugh.... anti-typoe casting to have extremely tall thin hobbits!!!! lol and short fat elves.... yes.. Danny DeVito as Legolas

I think that Brian Blessed would do well as a Dwarf, Thorin if The Hobbit ever comes to be.
Perhaps Rowan Atkinson as Frodo! Now that would be cool!

Bill Bailey (Of Black Books fame) - Gandaf
John Cleese (Of Monty Python fame) - Aragorn
Vic Reeves (Legend) - Legolas
Bob Mortimer (Legend) - Gimli
Dylan Moran (Of Black Books fame) - Boromir

Tom Baker (Of Doctor Who fame) - Elrond
Norman Lovett (Of Red Dward Fame) - Haldir
Danny John-Jules (Of Red Dwarf fame) - Saruman
