Unfourtunately, Tolkien wasn't the author and any book with his name in it was automatically suspected be a fraud book.

Fortunately, the fraud book was written in a parallel universe. Which meant that in the universe this story started in, Captain Kirk and company were still searching for Sauron and trying to find a way to keep the Downs from vanishing in a temporal paradox.
