Unfortunately (depending on your point of view)
it was a blond movie elf. It turns out elves can drown in the ocean. That wouldn't be cannabalism, would it? Or would it?  Of course, rather like the inciddent involving Bilbo's mother, the question remains did he slip or was he pushed.
