++A little disclaimer++ I really don't want to start an argument on this *ducks* because that's not what this thread is about. The following are what I have come to believe, so please, don't be offended and attack me or anything. Lush--were you serious about the communism, or was that meant to be a joke to all the ones who are opposed to it? I sincerely hope that it was, because...(sorry for all you who are in favor of communism) I am not only strongly opposed, but positively garrulous about the topic! Of course communism sounds like a great idea...and it IS, but only theoretically. The only way it would work is if humans were perfect. But they are not--instead humans are greedy, envious, lazy, and ultimately self-serving. Therefore, communism would never work. And if humans were perfect, there wouldn't even be a need for communism. Not to mention that it destroys the glory of the individual self. Conformity, blind obedience, and self-sacrifice are definitely a major cause of human suffering and destruction. Here's a really great quote from Ayn Rand's Anthem: Quote:
On a brighter note, I'm so glad to see that there are many classical music lovers like myself here! Most of the people I know (besides people like me who play classical music), think that its drippy and boring and never even give themselves a chance to understand and appreciate the art. It's great that people who love Tolkien are intelligent and appreciate the fine arts.
