Denethor (not a traditional bad character, I know. And don't kill me, Meela!): He loved Boromir, at least, and he loved Faramir, too, even though he himself didn't really know it at first. So he couldn't have been quite as bad as all that if he still loved and cared for his own children!

Gollum: Um... he was redeemable? (We think).
