The light in his eyes returned slowly, and he wiggled his fingers through the ropes that bound him tightly. He allowed Thengise to touch him, to hold him, for she was the only one he trusted and perhaps favored. He was reminded of his mother now; his memory faintly returned. His breath came out in sobbing gasps.
