The question at this point is whether to backtrack to Bree proper and take the south road from there or to cut across the land and join the road just north of the South Downs. Backtacking is safer, but we will lose a day of traveling. Let's find the others and make a decision."

He was grateful for the confidence placed in him and in the apparent willingness of the party to ignore his earlier deficiency. He spotted Wren and called her over and saw Enien signal to Calimir.
