The Barrow-Wight is a guest of Tom Bombadil.
1420!

A dark haired man of medium height and build walked into the Green Dragon and immediately stopped, surprised to find himself only the second guest to arrive at the newly opened inn. He gave a nod to Mithadan, who he knew well, and walked to the bar where he introduced himself to the Dwarf Dwarin.

“Hello Master Dwarf,” he said. “We have spoken many times by messenger but never actually met in person.” He looked around the Dragon. “Nice place you have here.”

Dwarin looked a bit confused. “Do I know you, sir?”

The man paused for a moment and then answered. “Of course, good Dwarf. I am The Barrow-Wight.” He waited for a reply but could see Dwarin was still confused. “What? Did you think I was really an animated corpse clothed in tattered rags?”

The Dwarf gaped, “Well…uh… yes. Everybody does.”

“Well that has changed,” laughed the Barrow-Wight. “I have taken over the body of this green-eyed, thirty-something Easterling, and I find it so much more comfortable than that old, armless (and crushed – remember what Bombadil did!) cadaver. Do you have any beer?”
