Iris sighed and said, “I never knew Finduilas until just recently. I found out she was blind and I told her relatives just to forewarn them so they wouldn’t be completely shocked when Finduilas told them herself. That was obviously a mistake,” Iris said icily, narrowing her green eyes. “Finduilas left and I felt it was my duty to come after her and bring her back home.”

Duty . How she hated the word. It was because of duty that she was still in Bree, living in that maggot hole that she called home. She snorted slightly, and drank a draught of cider. But then Finduilas had come: like a white lily after a storm. Sad, yet smiling at the same time. “I don’t understand how one in need of so much care can make so many friends,” she said softly to Romenna, glancing up at her. With a soft sigh, she added, “I never had a friend.”

A thin smile broke upon her face, and said, “What of you, Romenna?”
