Stormdancer of Doom

Hello all,
The essay finally having arrived (glee!) I find my main question revolves around Tolkien's emphasis on "urgency". This is the one thing that I read that **seems** (repeat seems, I am not sure yet!) to contradict the catholic mystical tradition which this seems so connected to in my mind. What I am getting at is that "detatchment" is considered key in mysticism; while "urgency" is considered key in osanwe. Does anybody else find this contradictory or puzzling, or do you have a perspective that brings them together? --Helen
