In the Shadow of the Star: Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Helen -

I am unclear why Piosenniel would be surprised at this, or think it unusual. Especially for one such as Frodo who has just spent a considerable stretch of time in the Undying Lands, immersed in osanwë.

Frodo was staring blankly at the dog, hands limp by his sides, eyes glassy. Piosenniel stood and stepped towards Frodo with a surprised expression on her face. "That's very unusual, " Piosenniel said softly.

The dog's ears went back, and he whined softly, and lay down. Frodo's eyes cleared, and he turned looking for a seat, and sat down. Farmer Maggot, Piosenniel, and Fang slowly crossed the room to join Frodo.

"I wasn't sure that could be done, " Piosenniel murmured, chuckling a little.

Frodo glanced wearily up at her. "I didn't stop to wonder."

Now she laughed merrily. "What was his mind like?"

"Angry, " Frodo said. "And very clear about who I am."
