Brightness of a Blade
|
I want to share with you a very confusing situation that is bound to arise because of two different translations of the same words in the Hobbit and LOTR in my native language.
The Hobbit: dwarf = pitic orc = gnom hobbit = hobbit LOTR: dwarf = gnom orc = orc, sometimes goblin hobbit = hobbit, sometimes pitic Confusing, right? But at least we were spared the 'adaptation' of most proper names although the place names were translated, but well enough, I have to admit. Feel free to share other translation specifics!
