Lostgaeriel has just left Hobbiton.

The "Galadriel bit" was shcoking and overpowering and not what I expected. But I thought it worked.
When Galadriel considers what would happen if she took the Ring, she describes herself as Queen - beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night. I feel PJ went as far as he had to on the visual effects to achieve the imagery JRRT had written (that Galadriel was speaking). She became painful to look at. And her voice had to be loud and eery-sounding. That whole speech is punctuated with exclamation points! Extreme effects were essential to achieve the contrast in this passage:

quote:
She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measurement, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she let her hand fall, shrunken: a slender elf-woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad.
