I also could tell he would die - Something about him. In every movie, SOMeone has to die (I don't think so, but most producers do), and as in Lotr few main characters really do die, I think they felt he was the only one wih enough screen time and little enough book time to "fit the bill" for the tragic hero death seen. <P>But man, I hated it when he got killed. I didn't exactly jump out of my seat, but I was just as stunned as anyone else. "Frodo's character being messed up" be darned.
