I've heard that PJ has changed the look of Shelob to a caterpillar that pupates into a an angry, evil moth/butterfly that torments Frodo and Sam. The Hobbits realize that the Phial of Galadriel is the reason for her attentions so Frodo darkens the light. Shelob in her confusion, is then easily slain by the warrior maiden Arwen who arrives in the nick of time to dispatch the phototactic horror.
