Defusing a Hijacking SituationIn order to prevent the wholesale war that is now being waged on this thread, about almost every aspect of the book to film transition, here are some links. I for one am greatly interested to hear the good and bad points of the movie (i.e. not personal comments on Peter Jackson, positive or negative) since together we see a lot more than one person on their own. For instance, the Weathertop scene in FOTR never really bothered me until others pointed out how much better it could have been. Tolkien himself disapproved of almost all of the major changes made in the few other film adaptations (and there were many changes), and I doubt he would have wished for too much gutting and plot-changing, especially since a 9+ hour film trilogy should be able to adequately address the plot without making too many additions to the storyline and to the dialogue.</UL>I think we probably have about zero warnings left to get back on topic and stop machine gunning other posters before a mod wanders in and issues some smackdowns.
