I suppose it builds up some tension for the final movie where he gets the sword reforeged.<P>I could also tell that his sword in FotR and TTT wasnt Anduril because, me bieng the LotR fan that i am, examined Narsil, Elendils sword, in the prologue for LotR and compared it to Aragorns sword.
