Yeah, I was thinking about that too. Maybe if they did it a few at a time, some going east and then south, others going west and south. Well, I don't think anyone at the council of Elrond would have accepted the idea either. I'm sure glad they did it they way we read it in LotR! actually, Gandalf and Elrond were very right. Sauron would have never, even in his widest dreams, imagined that a couple of Hobbits from the Shire would walk right into his kingdom and bring him down.
