I find it hard to fault symestreem's analysis:

Eorl->Brego->Aldor->Frea->Freawine
->Goldwine->Deor->Gram->Helm's sister (Hild?)->Frealaf->Brytta/Leofa->Walda
->Folca->Folcwine->Fengel->Thengel
->Theodwyn->Eomer

That makes Eomer the sixteenth generation after Eorl.

and

Eomer was a direct descendant of Eorl, just not always through the male line.

Which means that luthien-elvenprincess's original answer is surely correct:

Eorl would be Eomer's great (x15)-grandpa.

I am not sure where you are going with this one, Nirvana II, but it seems to me that luthien-elvenprincess has it. If you disagree, I think that, in the circumstances, you ought perhaps to explain why.
