... the Ring is... bad. I don't want to be called a Ringer or a Ringie any more than I'd want the nickname "Frodo's Torment."
![]() Silmarilli? .... Mithrillite? ![]() Wood Elf. Hobbit. Sinda, Noldo. Even "Tolkien Fan" is better than ... Ringer. "Frodo's Torment." Augh!

Middle-Earthling - too sci-fi
Ringies - never have heard that, but it just sounds weird Ringers - I always connect that label more with movie fans, than with fans of the books and works of Tolkien But the only label I personally really dislike is Tolkien Freak, because it just makes us sound like we're crazy or something ![]() Anything else is fine by me ![]()

Hm... I've heard Tolkien Freak. I take it as a compliment that they've noticed, but the freak part gets to me a bit. That's when I want to start going around saying "He's a Mario freak" "He's a greasy food freak" "She's a makeup freak" "They're Legend of Zelda freaks". Honestly... who really cares what other people are interested in? It's our lives and our brains. Just because we choose to be interested in things that can EXPAND our intellect... Yep. I guess that makes us freaks. I still prefer Tolkienite.
