he was lost because his ring consumed him Sauron sheltered him his city minas morgul still stands but any trace of him or his greastness otherwise is gone?

No the person is rather more obscure.... the "trace" will be more familiar to most than the actual person.....and a little extra clue - I used "lost" literally not metaphorically .......
