G....C...S....E...s. Forgive me, but I've just drawn a complete and total blank, even though I'm sure I should know this. Glad to here nothing wrong's happened though.

Feanor, GCSEs are national exams you work towards for two years, doing pieces of externally moderated coursework for each throughout, then take the GCSE exams at the end of Year 11 (American year 10). Most pupils take 8 to 10 GCSE subjects - some schools, especially private ones, take a subject a year early (for example, I got the results of my ICT this Summer, but I do the other 9 next May). The killers are languages - you get about three exams for each!
