I think allegory can be read lots of ways, depending on whoever or whatever you are comparing it to. That is why I do not like it. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img] And the fact that Tolkien so specifically stated that there were no allegorical meanings in his books seems to be the bottom line to me. I like what The Wise wrote though.
