It might be worthwhile to check out this thread for an interesting perspective on the swordplay in LotR, from some of the best in the business.
Link BTW, the 60 lbs of armour a knight would wear, is about exactly the same amount of weight more or less, as a modern U.S. soldier's LBE, body armour, helmet, rifle and ammunition.
