On the contrary, I believe his fiery genius would have spurred him on. Keep in mind that Feanor was not a suicidal, homicidal elf consumed with war. He was a elf of great subtlety of hand, and, given time, would have been able to think things through. Surely such an elf would realize "Oh S---, did I just leave paradise?" Think about Maedhros, his son. As he matured, Maedhros became quite virtous, recognizing that only through a united force could the elves defeat Morgoth. And, as they say, the apple doesnt fall far from the tree...
