This is quite obvious. You subconsciously wish that Formy would stop hesitating and get to the point.

Is this a subtle comment about Hyarmenwë's recent lack of posting on the AtM2 thread?

Trash, all of them. Beer-drinking, tree-chopping, hockey-watching, snowshoeing, polar bear-hugging, tipi-dwelling sons of voyageurs that they are, how can anyone like them, eh? I shall we hang them all, eh!

(For the ignorant: Formendacil is a denizen of Olds, Alberta, Canada)

The doctor is expressly objective in all his assessments. But take it that way if you wish. .... and get posting!

Oh how the criminally insane do withhold vital information that could help with their cure!

Obviously, you fell in love with Oddwen during the Werewolf game you speak of, and you want to pursue a deeper relationship but you fear that she will not want to. (The problem with these joking interpretations is, what if I'm spot on?)

Well, Oddwen? Let the poor blighter down gently, will you? (snicker)

Hmmm...

Gurthang, are you a body-builder?

I had a dream during Dueling Wizards, but all I can remember is the denizens of the Village milling around and screaming.

Boots I'm going to do a dance!

Dear Doctor dream.

Today, while taking an afternoon sleep (to put off doing revision for a few more minuets) I had an odd dream that has me rather unnerved. I dreamt that I received a PM from the Barrow Wight saying "Your services will no longer be required" and then my account was closed and all my posts deleted. I then found a thread named "petition to get rid of Hookbill" signed by a good many Downers I did not recognise (and some I did ).

Am I going (further) insane?

Nah. A simple nightmare. Fear of ..... life? Since this is a place where you're dead? Or maybe fear of death? You decide. *Dr. Dream shrugs*

I think you're spot on, Doctor. An RP within the site, hence a dream within a dream...

Incidentally, Fea appeared as her latest, hat-wearing photo, Diamond and Jenny as their current avatars. The fact that on encountering Audrey Hepburn in the subconscious world (not for the first time) I now instantaneously identify her as Diamond is...curious...

Well, during my childhood, I was rather fond of animals and dinosaurs. I was very good at impersonating the former, and still do a mean "big cat" impression, with the shoulder-movement during stalking and all.

However, I don't remember ever impersonating dinosaurs, as we don't really know how they moved.

In the dream, I think I just got on all fours and stretched my neck out as far as possible whilst making a "mhhhhoooooo" noise.

Thumbs up

Good Gracious me!

Last night I had an odd dream!
It was cold in my bedroom (which may explain the setting) when I went to sleep. I dreamt that I was in Antarctica for some reason and looking for the 'Penguin City', my younger brother was insisting we go there (he likes Penguins). when we got there Thinlómien was chasing some penguins around a huge tower. Lommy didn't call herself 'Thinlómien' though, she called herself 'Ann' for some reason.

My younger brother took up a stick and began bashing it against the tower yelling at Ann / Thinlómien to stop chasing the Penguins. She turned to him and said something about the Penguins hiding something under the tower. So we all went down some stairs that had mysteriously appeared. Once at the bottom, I saw that there were hundreds of Penguins huddled around a huge egg that, for some reason, had the Barrow Down's logo on it.

Thinlómien then said that it was the Downs' central server or something and that someone was trying to cut it off. I asked why and she said, 'Because they don't want us talking about books anymore.' To which I replied 'I see'. Lommy then proceeded to hand out chocolate to the Penguins who seemed very happy about this. But my younger brother was shouting that they couldn't eat chocolate and then the Penguins started exploding...

Then I woke up...

Weird...

I had such a strange dream...

I was in Fordim's WW-game. The game had two game-threads and I was not just writing into them, I was in them. At first I didn't notice that there were two threads and I wondered around the low-class thread, ironically it was my school's grounds. At some moment I noticed that I hadn't writen anything about suspecting people and all I wrote was just in character.

Somehow I was converted to the other thread that was a gigantic mansion and where all the real action was going on. All the players voted while dining at a great table and we lynched a new tiny alligator-character.

Then I walked around the mansion and in each room the time was different, in one room it was year 1919. In some rooms there were ancestors of people I know from RL. One room was my father's room.

After that I flew into the space on a bus.

For me, I've only had one dream involving the Downs. Nuranar appeared in it, and the phantom was involved but did not actually appear. Nothing much, except there were a few elements in it that wound up coming true.

I've appeared in four dreams by other BDers.

I had a dream with Mithalwen in it.

It went like this:

We were driving along a country road and then she did a sharp right at a junction. This road passed through a disused village (like those ghost villages on the South Downs that are used as Army bombing ranges) which had a lot of trees. After a while it entered open country and the road got narrower until the 'road' was just tyre tracks through a lush green upland field (rather like very nice parkland). Mithalwen drove confidently (it was a Range Rover) and she was correct to do so as we soon got onto a metalled lane again. Here there was a crossroads with one finger on the signpost pointing to a village called Derby, which Mithalwen corrected and said it was pronounced "Derby" not "Darby", which was surprising. Then she dropped me off in the village where there was one of these dreadful team builds going on and I sneaked off to the pub.

I had a dream that I went to a café. Kath and Lhuna were sitting at one table. I asked if I could join them and they agreed. Kath started to complain: "I wan't Eomer to be here, he's my favourite 'downer and I haven't seen him in ages!" And, surprise surprise, Eomer walks in and joins the company. There's a sort of awkward silence.

Then I start to talk. I chat about something very weird and it goes on and on. Eomer looks at me, obviously thinking I'm a freak of some sort, Kath's so thunderstruck that she can't help laughing and Lhuna (who too seems to think I'm a weirdo of some sort) giggles. Then Lhuna asks if I will come to the supermarket with her (she needed to buy bread) and she tells Kath and Eomer that they can go to her place and we'll all meet there soon.

I and Lhuna start walking to the supermarket. We chat about some random things. Then we arrive at the supermarket. I say I must buy a disposable camera, since I want to take photos of them since it was such a good chance to brought me to meet them. First we go to by some bread. Lhuna chooses some rye bread. The cover looks familiar. "Hey, that's made in Finland!" I tell Lhuna, "weird that they sell finnish bread in the Philippines." Lhuna agrees that it's weird and then we buy the bread and the camera. Then we go to Lhuna's place and Kath and Eomer were there, but then the dream ended.

That was a weird dream and I can only guess why did I have such a dream. But that me flooding nonsense chat might have something to do with werewolf: yesterDay Kath said it's difficult to form a picture of me when I'm not flood-posting, I replied her that now I will flood-post since I'm in Noggie's place (which has a working net access) and at the end of the day she remarked she had certainly had the flood-posting she had missed...

I dreamt that I was outdoors somewhere with Hookbill and some other guy who I can't remember very well. Hookbill told us a joke, but neither of us got it because it was some sort of linguistic pun. A whiteboard appeared behind Hookbill, and he wrote it out so we finally understood it.

The scary thing is, that's probably how I'd react.

the guy who be short has just left Hobbiton.
I had an Anguirel dream a while ago that deserves reporting now. In a month, I won't be able to fairly report Ang-dreams, so here goes.

Er... he was at my cousin's wedding. My sister was excited because she thought that Ang was as intelligent, and thus as absent-minded as me. I tried to explain that, actually, he was more intelligent, to the point that he wasn't absent-minded. Then Ang started doing a weird dance, kind of ruining my point.

Thumbs up

I had a Barrow Dream last night...

At my university there was some commotion going on. Not sure what, and I never found out. But when I wandered around I found Nogrod, Lommy and Rikae standing in the corridor. So we hung around and were talking for a while (no idea what about) and then Nogrod says, "We'll wait a few more minutes for narfforc to show up."
When he did it turned out he and Nogrod were not speaking to one another. There was an awkward silence.

Weird.

Last night, I dreamed that Volo and I had scheduled an online chat for whatever reason - but at the appointed time, we entered the chatroom only to be confounded by the band Jet. They were ugly, hairy, and odiferous, and whilst Volo cowered in the corner I was forced to deal with them by myself with my newly discovered Matrix-esque fighting skills. Them being dealt with finally, I sat back in my chair, and waited.

After eight hours of no activity on the chatboard, I looked up and found that Volo had been chatting with everyone and their sister, but not me. Not even about me, yo. Then Rune enters the chatroom, notices me, and says "Hey, can you get me a soda?" I say sure and log off. I thumb my nose at you both!

Then I went over to Kath's house, where Oromin was also visiting. We had a lovely chat, and Kath gave me the gift of a car, and Oromin gave me three cents. And a business card. Maybe she was a mechanic.

Last night I had a dream that this certain friend of mine wanted to make a prank call to Saucie. Unfortunately, neither Lommy nor I had his number, so she decided to call Mith instead, whose number Lommy gave her without hesitating.
When Mith answered, she just mumbled something and growled at her. However, Mith didn't seem to be the least bit surprised about a stranger calling her, and started debating about something with my friend.

Dark-Eye

Yesterday, I went to sleep thinking: "I'd like to have a weird an interesting dream. But sadly you never have them if you wish for them..." Apparently I was wrong, for I dreamt the following:

I lived in a big house. Its walls were painted in bright colours and it was quite pretty. Agan either lived with me or then hanged around at my place all the time. One day, a demon/ vampire / dark lord arrived. He took the house for himself and it became a dark, black-and-red vampire mansion. He said that I and Agan have to kill ten people. In return, we would get a cloak woven of their threads of life. We did not want to agree, but he forced us to.

I kept whining that I can't kill people. Agan took a more practical approach: she knew we could do nothing else. So, she started killing people, one per night. She killed seven people, and many (if not all) of them were 'downers. At least Sleepy, THE Ka and Kath died in her hands and possibly Volo and Brinniel too. But when she had killed seven people, she said that she's done more than her share of the duty and I must quit whining about our terrible fate and kill the three remaining ones.

The night after that, I broke into Rune's house. I went to his bedroom intending to kill him. But when I was there, I suddenly did not want to kill him. (It was not like "No, I can't kill Rune!"... it was more like "I don't want to play chess, let's play poker instead". ) So I went to kill some random woman instead of Rune.

Then, only one kill remained (yes, I know that my dream maths sucks ). The vampire lord gave us two choices. Either I must kill Legate or six lions sleeping around a fountain on a town square. Agan said I should kill the lions, I wanted to kill Legate. So we argued for a long time. I don't remember the arguments, except that I had some arguments for killing Legate that I did not say aloud and that my key argument was that it would make a better ending for the story if I killed Legate. Sadly, I woke up before I found out which one(s) I ended up killing.

Quite creepy, isn't it?

I have heard of queer dreams, but none are as queer as that one.

And so does your dream logic. I would never ever insist anyone on killing lions. I adore them.

I had a minor dream in which I discovered my grandfather (who has been dead for, what, eight years) had been an active Downer when he still lived.

I had an awful dream last night!

I dreamed that I had gone to Finland with the rest of ye, but it was a torpid time, involving images of my beloved first car being torn apart after no longer sprouting hamburgers, murderous Runes and Legates, suicidal Lommies and very angry Greenies. And underneath it all was this horrible consciousness of an evil evil evil Nogrod.

It sucked and I blame Rune and Hookbill.

(I may be laughing now, but I can assure you it was very traumatic at the time. )

Tangential Tolkien Terrors

It was just another somewhat sleepless night, with a few Tolkien-related dreams thrown in...

It was somewhere in the middle of the night - I'd gotten to bed late and had already been up once - when Frodo and I were on the run from some assorted orcs and a troll or two. I was seeing the scene from the Sam point-of-view, and oddly I looked more like Sean Astin than myself. So I'm trying to get Frodo to MOVE! and yet my master seemed to be interested in every little leaf and twig that we passed. I knew that the pursuit was close, as, like in the recent Olympic marathons, the track near the end of the race doubled back on itself, and so one could see one's pursuers across the barriers. The barriers in this LotR dream world were just a line of trees and shrubs, and even these were few and far between, but luckily for me, the orcs and trolls felt obliged to stay on the track, and so even though they were right across the barrier, I knew that I still had a few moments before they caught up to me and Frodo, as they would have to continue down the track a bit before making the return loop. Frodo continued his meandering, and I hoped that I could keep him moving and that we, like at the Olympics, were nearing the end of the race. But what was that smell...?

***
I awoke to the smell of a skunk. There's something about those mercaptans that can raise the dead. Thought that someone had left the dog into the house after she'd been skunked, so got out of bed to investigate. All windows and doors were closed; nothing in the ductwork; I sniffed the dog, and she was fine; I checked both the front and back porches to see if we had some nocturnal visitor, and eventually gave up, figuring that somewhere upwind a skunk met its end. Went back to bed to try again to get some sleep.
***

It was a field of surpassing beauty. It was snow-covered, though the snow was whiter than I had ever seen, whiter than any white ever. But there were colors as well; greens, reds and blues in HD. It was incredibly vivid, and yet calming. There were these tree-like things that were like dandelion seeded clocks, and though large, waved in the wind like sea anenomes. I was awed; the fronds, if they be so called, waved as if caught in slow ocean waves. As I looked more closely, the entire structure/tree - and there were a few of them - made shapes just like the one sees when seeing clouds blown across the sky. This particular one appeared as a galloping white horse, and I immediately thought of the horse heads in the Flooding of the Bruinen. It was so cool and peaceful and spellbinding. I had my camera with me, and with much excitement went to capture this environment, wondering if the Downs accepted QuickTime movie format uploads (as still pictures just wouldn't be enough).

Of course, my camera was out of batteries. I left the scene, now seeing a road that led up a hill. At the top of the hill there was a convenience store, and I figured that I could get my batteries there and then return to capture the footage of what Lothlorien *should* have looked like in Peter Jackson's version. I began looking for the 'battery aisle,' and then noticed a person approaching the door of the store from the parking lot. The person was masked and hooded - I could not see a face, and I suddenly knew that the person was about to rob the place. Being close to the door, I went over and turned the latch while yelling to the manager that we were about to be robbed. The masked/hooded robber pulled a gun and began shooting out the glass in the door. A bullet grazed my abdomen, leaving a stinging trail as it passed and then adding a warmth from the small amount of blood that began to flow. I thought not much of it as the bullet must have been very small caliber - we here would call it a "slug" shot from a "BB gun" - and the robber was having a tough go of shooting out the glass. Across the storefront there was another door, and I went to lock that door as well.

But the other robbers were already there. I didn't get a chance to lock the door before this hooded robber began shooting through the glass. This gun was larger caliber, and the first shot knocked out a large hole in the door, and shards of metal and glass into me.

I retreated to another aisle, and the group of bad guys entered, passing by, and I felt just like Barliman in PJ's FotR, hoping that they would just rob the place and pass me by. Which they did, at first, but as I had yelled out, "Go ahead, take what you want and go!" - it wasn't my store - maybe I had attracted attention to myself. Another man came by and pulled out a knife, and held it menacingly towards me. He looked Dunlandish, which I thought odd. He said something, and I tried to distract him while I focused on the knife approaching throat level, hoping to get a chance to knock it from his hand. He turned away at a noise, and I smacked his hand upward. The knife flew up and hit the soft-tiled ceiling, and I hoped that it would have stuck there, but it bounced and dropped and landed right beside us on a cookie display. He looked at me; I at him and we both went for the knife...

***
There was a knock at the front door. The clock indicated that it was 6:45 AM, and no one was expected. I was already dressed, and so ran down the stairs to the front door. It was a local police officer knocking, who apologized for disturbing me, but just wanted me to know that our van door, parked in the driveway, was open. He said that it looked like nothing was missing (I wouldn't have cared if there were as the van is perpetually filled with kid stuff), but one never knew. I figured that this officer was new, as someone who will not be mentioned routinely leaves the van door open. The officer was very nice as he retrieved and handed me the morning paper. Like anyone who shows up, I asked if he were interesting in watching the kids, but he said, "No way," and he ran off to his car and sped away.

After that, my heart was racing too much to sleep, and the kids were up wanting to know who was at the door, and so we started another day.

I had two Barrow-Downs dreams last night.

In the first one, I was third on the reputation list. I was not delighted by the fact Nogrod and Legate had both more reps than I did, but I was even less pleased by the fact that I had changed my avatar to some ugly, grey unclear mess that was supposed to be a flower and some text. (I can't describe it properly but it looked really ugly and boring. )

The second dream was nicer. In it, we Finnish 'downers had visited Brinn's home a long time ago in winter. Every now and then, Brinn had posted pictures of a churchyard near her home in Facebook. One day, she posted a new pic. The churchyard was filled with snow. "Yay, now it looks more like it should look like," I commented and somehow stepped into the picture and then I was in the churchyard. Brinn was there (and she had taken a really long hair extension, by the way). We were both very happy to see each other and hugged. Then, Greenie, Aganzir, Volo and Legate popped into the churchyard as well. "What are you doing here?" I asked, for as far as I knew, they were supposed to be in our summer cottage. The others looked at Legate, and in the end, he spoke up, scratching his ear: "I just heard Brinn calling me in the distance. We followed the call and it pulled us here." Then all the six of us went for a walk around the churchyard and after that - I think - we went to have hot chocolate in a nearby café. Needless to say, it was a very pleasant dream.
