I guess I should elaborate....

First, I've had several characters in RPGs that ended up adopting children. Lindo adopts Tem, Tocca, and Retya; Phura adopts Kemba; Gamba adopts Little Maura, Ban, Asta, and Roka. (I'm currently processing adoption paperwork myself.)

One of the things one does with adopted children is work on eye contact. I did not know this when I wrote all about the Staring Game between Sindo and Lorien, in The Fairy Wife, but thinking of it now pretty much amazes me..

In The Lonely Star, Lindo adopts Snowhobbits. (I am adopting two hobbits from a very cold place indeed. One of the hobbits reminds me of Phura (very much.) The other reminds me of Gamba (very much.) I feel that I could accurately call these two 'snowhobbits', Phura and Gamba. )

And then there was the whole Bolco story; all about the shock of American culture in the life of an unsuspecting little hobbit. I see this, also, on a daily basis.

I could go into lots of details, and provide lots of examples, but for now..... I'll just say it gives me pause.

I'm not sure if I've yet experienced life imitating art, but I've definately noticed, looking back, that every single creative thing I've done is filled with me, no matter how hard I try to separate church and sta-- I mean art and opinion.

My Saeryn at The White Horse is me. What happens to her tends to reflect what's up with me, so when she went from being happy, adventurous, and ready for the world to forgetful, nervous, and psyched out... I was beyond busy and feeling that way myself. Degas, her brother, is a friend of mine. Inzillomi is who I want to be when I grow up: accomplished, respected, creative, kind, and subtle. Tasa is me when I'm having issues.

I know that this is a subconscious thing, so do you suppose it could work both ways? What you create is a part of you, so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch for it to "encourage" inklings you've already had.

And, of course, I could not very well finish this post without hearty congratulations and luck wishes for you, mark.

Deep thanks!

I understand that everything that <writer> writes is filled with <writer>. What I'm finding odd is, these are people that are outside of me, if you know what I mean. I'm not surprised to see my stories in me. I'm just surprised to find my stories in other folks.

I feel as if I'm in a song, if you take my meaning.
(CHild of the Seventh Age would be among the translators... Three guesses who the Author is, and the first two don't count.)
