If Wistan's farm is two day's walk, isn't it safe to assume that Thornden rode horse to the place? Why then would Thornden need a new horse from Wistan's stables? Or did he walk, and is this actually two days after the horse fair? Or correct me if I'm just being dense or something....

Perhaps the man likes to walk
![]() At least a horse was never mentioned in connection with him coming to the Farm . . . Perhaps he parked it at the end of the lane that enters into the farm proper. So, Folwren - what would you like to do?

I'm so cheerfully hoping that Rose becomes at the very least a recurring character. She's so practical and has a lovely ironic sense of humor...and she's well-adjusted, which can be a rare commodity in a RP.

Or, (now this statement is going to show such laziness that I should be ashamed to say it and you can jump on me quite sharply if you like for it) could we just ignore it and pretend it were otherwise and he could do it all on foot? Next time Thornden has to go out to collect alms, I could take a horse. Jenny, I too hope that Rose is a recurring character. That would be great! -- Folwren

Catching up on developments...
Garstan's going to eventually get out that question about the kitchen, but I think I'm going to wait for a response to the question about the party first.

Folwren –
Why don’t you just mention Thornden dismounting before he knocks on the door at Dunstede - that should cover the fact that he does indeed have a horse. Then in Post 266: I’ll just change this: Quote:

Well, I guess. But not tonight. Tomorrow I'll fix it. I promise.
Edit: Firefoot, if Thornden were to take a horse, he would have taken one from the stables. However, Thornden doesn't have a horse, at least I didn't write him with one. He could have had one, but I don't know what good a horse would have done someone who had been a guard for a year. He'd probably sold his horse to get some extra pocket money towards the beginning of his entrance into Edoras and it's only been a little over a week since he's left Meduseld and he hasn't bought another one (pity he's gone during the horse fair, eh?) So, what I want to know is which horse is available that Thornden might take from the stables? Eodwine's old war horse probably needs to stretch his legs, but would Eodwine let him go with him? I would want to say that Thornden has a horse from the very beginning, in post #207, when he first starts out from the Mead Hall. In which case, I'll write that he had told Leof that he would need a horse at the crack of dawn the next day and when he walks out, Leof will be leading the horse out of the stables. I realize your little character still has a few hard feelings against Thornden - would it be alright if I added some dry remarks on his side? Quote:

Most sorry for not getting a post up. It's too late and my brain is fried on questions of ultimates.
![]() I'll be on personal retreat most of Saturday and Sunday, so a reply to Garstan must wait. I'm sorry. I'll be back Sunday night and will make this first priority then. |

Congrats to the new Rohanians!
(I'll try to follow you one day) But some thoughts about my characters entry. - I think my character has been attending the fair and seeks just a place to overnight to begin with. I think it would be too simple, if he would just come in and ask for work (and somehow just happening to be kind of a right person needed). I believe we can come up with something to make him stay for awhile. Maybe tomorrow, there would be some construction work requiring someone who knows how to handle carpenter's tools, maybe you would need an extra man at arms tomorrow for some reason, maybe something else...? - It's probably the same from my character's point of view, whether you change the day before or after he arrives. In the first case he must have had somewhat a joyful night and have slept somewhere out there - and would be coming to the Mead Hall to get some breakfast (he might then be having some headache too ![]() |
