Time frame for the Inn:
It is the year 2957 of the Third Age (1356 Shire Reckoning/SR by Hobbit reasoning), 16 years after Bilbo went on his adventure. Frodo is not yet born. Strider is wandering about in the wild and he and Gandalf have met and become friends. The rangers are watching the Shire and not letting any evil things enter. Sauron has declared himself openly and has settled in Mordor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ May 5 (14 Thrimidge), 1356 SR will be the date that the game starts. The weather is bright and sunny but with a little cold in the air. Cool enough to have a fire indoors. Last edited by piosenniel; 05-28-2006 at 06:12 PM. |

How time movement and the weather will be handled at the Inn:
The Time at the Inn will be directed as the Innkeeper sees fit. Time will not be moved forward abruptly by the Innkeeper and without being mentioned (and, if necessary, discussed) before hand on the Discussion Thread. Depending on what is happening at the Inn, some days will be played out in full, others may start in the morning but end up skipping to the evening if nothing is happening and it doesn't cut out any important part of the story line. Then there will be times when the time will be moved forward several days. If a player has a character who will only realistically be at the inn for a night or two (a passing traveler – elf, dwarf, man), we will try to direct time so that this player gets his or her chance to play in the Inn as much as possible. This being the case, if you want to join in with a character who will soon be passing on, it may be a good idea to ask on the Discussion Thread how long this particular day is going to be played out, in case time is about to be moved ahead. --------------- Weather will for the most part be directed by the Innkeeper and can be discussed, too, by the players on the Discussion Thread. Dealing with posts from different places:
If a character who is going to be fairly consistent in the inn or will be returning now and again is somewhere else for a short time, it is possible to write Away posts. If you have to write an Away post please put at the top of your post in Bold: Away - your character’s name - where he or she is. For instance: Away - Seredic Boffin - Hobbiton Preferably, do all your writing at the Inn or in the Inn’s property. Away posts should only be used when necessary and not over done. Character Description Form for the Inn
Each player in the Golden Perch will need to submit a brief Character Description form to the Inn’s Discussion Thread. It can be submitted at the same time as you make your first post to the Inn Thread. Posts for characters who do not have a Character Description put on the Golden Perch Discussion Thread will be sent back to their writers. You may of course repost once your character’s description is on board. Please use the following form. ~*~ Name: Age/gender/race/where from: Appearance (very brief physical description/or as detailed as the player wishes to be): Bits of character/history you feel might be helpful in defining the character (again, as brief or detailed as you wish): Last edited by piosenniel; 03-14-2011 at 02:35 PM. The Innkeeper -- Folwren
NAME: Seredic Boffin (Dick) AGE: 52 RACE: Hobbit GENDER: Male WEAPONS: A pipe APPEARANCE: About average height, 3'4". Merry, round face, twinkling brown eyes, brown curly hair. Wears a green, embroidered (though not terribly expensive) waste coat, a white, cotton shirt. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Dick is a merry hobbit, quick to laugh and easy going with most everybody. Loves a big crowd at his inn because it invariably means a lot of orders, and that's good business. He's an honest fellow, however, and generous, too. He's willing to help people in trouble when he possibly can, and when he can't really help them, he does his best to anyway. He loves his wife and children and is protective of them as is his rightful duty to be. HISTORY – Mainly to do with his Family: Seredic grew up in Hardbottle until he was about 24. At that time he and his older brother (just come of age) moved to Stock, his brother because that’s where the girl he wanted to marry wanted to live (it was near home) and he because he wanted to do something. He fell in love with Lily Goodbody, the old innkeeper’s daughter, and when he was 36, married her. She was the old hobbit’s only child, as well, and he was very pleased with her choice of husband. Dick’s father-in-law taught him everything about the inn and Dick worked by his side faithfully to learn what he needed to know - understanding that when the elderly hobbit retired, he would take his place as owner and innkeeper. At the beginning of the year 1356, when Lilly’s father was 80, he told Dick that it was time that Dick would take over. In the sixteen years between their marriage and when Dick took possession of the Inn, Dick and Lily had not been childless. They had seven children, three girls and four boys. Their two youngest are twins, a girl and a boy. They do their best with raising them, but seven kids is a lot to look after, and I highly doubt their Mum knows about all of their escapades.
