I want Gloin gone as well, but from a financial and entertainment perspective, Durin is the better candidate to go...he just creates no drama nor action, nor a reason for viewers to watch.

Where Gloin and Smaug being the last two of their group will create for a much needed drama as the series winds down and a reason for people to continue watching.
