I think it would be Aragorn son of Arathorn because he knows how to make the right decisions and hes got leadership qualities and he can fight very well and hes cooler than Gandalf (at least I think ). And anyway he is supposed to be the king(he does become the king of the re-united kingdoms in ROTK). So what do you think?

This is not really an advanced topic. Probably not a good one either (a bit like asking who the better fighter is, Frodo or Boromir), but let's see what others come up with.

Frodos a better fighter. He never lost a fight. Well Boromir has. OK I know that was a stupid answer but it was an answer

Personally I would prefer to be under Faramir's leadership. His gentle good nature is pleasing and likeable, and I would feel I could approach him with more ease than I could with Aragorn. Faramir I think would have a better relationship with his men, and they would be able to give better co-operation in the fighting field. Plus he has excellent skills, especially interrogatory skills, I believe?
Aragorn is a great leader also, but I think of him as being harsher and less good-tempered. This may not be the case, but I still prefer Faramir. [ August 13, 2003: Message edited by: Meela ]

I agree with Meela on several key points, although the term 'leader' is being used rather loosely here. In terms of a wartime strategic leader, I would choose Faramir, since his is well respected, down to earth, able to make quick decisions and very keen (not that Aragorn is not all of these). Faramir seems to be a better choice to lead a host or company. Aragorn is probably the better pure fighter, and a case could be made that he would be a better wartime leader because of his prowess at the Hornburg.
As for a leader of the people, I would have to choose Aragorn. Faramir's skills are better suited for military duty. I think Aragorn would definitely the better choice to lead a country, as is clearly shown at the end of the Return of the King. I think this is a rather pointless topic, because Aragorn was the heir of Isildur and obviously more capable of running Gondor than the Stewards, and because the word 'leader' is used vaguely. Faramir is perhaps a better military commander.
