I think we must be related ... my mother couldn't remember my name either...
![]() and Master Gwathagor, your suggestion is most un-gallant. Besides Mithadan, I think is rather older than I am. ![]()

hmmm... we could go with Mith the Kid, kinda along the lines of 'Billy the Kid' which would be a neat refrence...did I mention I was something of a geek? anyhoo- Mithalwen, ever get the dead cat's name? I get that one frequently... And my poor siblings never know who she is actually trying to call, we generally try to work it out through context such as "you didn't get caught, did you?" "who here has done something that would make her mad?"

No but I did get asked if I remembered when the dead cat was a puppy.... funnily enough the only time she could remember my name was when I was in trouble when I'd get every last syllable of both Christian names and surname "Mithalwen Pilgrim Soul, what do you think you are doing?".
The rest of the time she'd use my elder sister's name then "err...darling" as if she were thinking "I know we gave the other one a name, what was it?". I wouldn't have minded so much but it took them so long apparently to choose my names that you would have thought they would have remembered. Our old neighbour said she gave up asking what they were going to call me and I was registered about as late as you can be without breaking the law - and after life saving surgery... parents eh?

![]() It could get to be like the Forsyte Saga - "Nicholas, Young Nicholas and Very young Nicholas" ..I quite like that ... at my age young even in a relative context would be a cheering prefix!!! ![]()

greetings and hello to all from myself- My name is Gervias, but I am known far and wide as the white knight. I fight evil and injustice- reknown for fighting for and defending the white tower. I have fought in the war of the ring and other conflicts stretching over years of middle earth's history.
With that- greetings and hail the white tower.

Indeed, let me second Groin. There's never enough of RPG players! Welcome, White_Knight! And nobody restrains you from being in-character if you wish, it may be interesting
![]() And, of course, if you feel like it, let me encourage you to visit also other parts of the Downs besides the roleplaying section - you may find something interesting even there, for sure. Anyway, enjoy your stay!

oh ya for sure- I am currently perusing the sight- and let me say that I am rapidly becoming a big big fan. I have been looking around for a site of this magnitude for some time. I love LoTR and I hope that I may greatly contribute around here....

Heya folks, Lady OelteA (Oh-Ell-Tay-Ah) here hoping to join in all the fun. This is my first reading of the LoR books, and am feeling the constant urge to dig deeper into the story. So far I'm in Rivendell in Part One, with Frodo enjoying running into Bilbo again.
Have had the book set for over 5 years, and have been saving the reading project for a special time. It has now dawned, and I'm totally infatuated with the story. I've been surrounded by LoR fans going back to their first readings in the 70s, so have heard much about this story that has enchanted me. Hoping to gather more insight into the story line, as well as handling the inconsistencies (one of them drawing me here in the first place; looking into the inconsistency with the creatures in the Misty Mountains: The Hobbit has gremlins, and The Fellowship of the Ring has Orcs...still haven't figure that one out). Found the FAQ's, and am now trying to figure out how to properly write my handle OelteA with the squiggly's (can't actually find the ability to change that name; s'pose a moderator would do this?) Still not sure how to properly arrange any squiggly's in my name, as I made up the name 7 years ago when I started learning RPGing...haven't had a source to play with since, but will get on again when I do (still much to learn). Anyways, I look forward to all your insight in these forums and can't wait to know more ![]() |

Welcome Lady OelteA to the Downs. Hope you enjoy your time here as well as reading the books. I'm currently a couple of chapters ahead, though this is about the thirtieth time through.
Some information can be found here regarding the difference between orcs and goblins.
