I have returned from delving into the prehistory of the Downs. All these ancient, forgotten names... what has become of those who bore them once? Do they lurk here still? Or have they moved onwards, seeking greener forums?
*blinks* ...Er, I mean, I've been going through this thread, looking for something that hasn't been done already. Quite hard. Well, then. What do Arwen and Celebrimbor have in common?

They both gave something valuable to Galadriel's keeping?

Sorry, no. (But yes, Unfinished Tales is relevant).

This thread doesn't deserve to die, but the only thing I can come up with is:
Both of them gave the Elessar to a person they loved (Celebrimbor -> Galadriel, Arwen -> Aragorn). (The problem with this is that only in the movie it was Arwen who gave the E. to Aragorn, whereas in the book he got it from Galadriel, so this is probably not what you were thinking of...)

Sorry for the late reply, Pitchwife. I was away over Easter. And thanks for reviving the thread!
And no, that isn't the answer. Please keep guessing. I'll give you another clue if you want one.

I'll go with a crazy idea on this one -
They were both reponsisble for the creation of banners: Celebrimbor's body was used as a banner on a pole by Sauron's forces during their campaign, whilst Arwen made the banner for Aragorn. I know, pretty crazy ![]()

Might, that's an awesome solution!
I'll bet anything it's true, and even if it isn't, it's ingenious! If I may say so, the Quiz Room wasn't quite the same without you... P.S. As for your riddle and my answer, I was talking about this here.
