I assign school computers that block almost everything, including the 'Downs. I had basically nothing to do for two hours and I sat, staring at the computers, wishing I could get on the Downs...

My school blocks the forums here but not the downs website. I found a loophole in the schools block system though. Nothing big but it works here and there.

Lostole, you could have used a proxy or gone on your email and emailed random downers that you happened to have email addresses for.

What's a proxy? They block email, too.

Proxy is a site that generates a different IP address and lets you get through blocks and bans. Just google proxy. There are a few I know by memory one is something like silent predator and another is hide my donkey. The real word there is starred out so just switch donkey to the word that should be there.

An IP address is an internet protocol address. It goes by internet connection meaning every computer in your house has the same IP address and every computer in your school has the same IP address. You can figure out someones general geographic location since the numbers go by location. In the area I live all the IP's have either 69 or 67 as their starting numbers.

I assign the radio. Just when you've finished work after six hours of mind-numbing boredom and terrible music and you think you have finally escaped, you go home to find that the worst songs on the radio are still running through your head without end. Even though you weren't even listening to it properly at the time somehow two hours later you can recall every hideous lyric. Please tell Taylor Swift to just leave me alone!

You poor thing! At least my school district lets me access the Barrow-Downs! And I thought I had it bad having to live without Facebook and LiveJournal during school hours . . .

Poor you, only Facebook is blocked on our school computers and wifi systems. I particularly enjoy playing in the Downs whenever I'm in our ROTC lounge

Though our online journal subscriptions aren't always updated. There were two months when I couldn't access JSTOR--it almost affected my thesis.
