Perhaps the community here is coming full circle, as the novelty of the movie craze has (surely) dulled a bit by now. I just finished re-reading The Hobbit, LotR, and The Silmarillion, and it really took me back to some very stimulating discussions had in these parts. Totally irrelevant, but stimulating.

I wonder, has it ever really been settled whether or not balrogs have wings?

I would be much obliged if I could regain my old moniker, if only to give myself whatever questionable credibility may be associated with it. But how will you know it's really me?

Thank you for the welcome, Thinlomien. I do believe your join date is somewhat after my visits tapered off, but I trust by the last couple of posts in this thread, my reputation for having the best ratio of pots stirred to posts made wasn't for naught.

Kate, congratulations backatcha on your nuptials. I seem to recall chatting color theory with you once upon a time, which makes this foggy brain of mine think you were an art student... Is that so? Still following that up in grad school?

Your foggy memory serves you well - my degree is in Art History, one of the most interesting and useless fields yet discovered by man. My grad studies incorporate further studio work with education fundamentals, so maybe one day I will be able to completely entrench myself in uselessness as a tenured art professor.
