Apple Dumplings are also a good idea.
Apple Dumplings Pastry for a double pie crust ( I use boxedwith this recipe, the already rolled out kind would just have to be re-rolled) 6 baking apples, peeled and cored 6 Tablespoons sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg raisins if desied 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons butter or margerine Heat oven to 400. Roll pie pastry to 18x12 inch rectangle. Cut into 6 Six-inch squares. Place apples on pastry squares. In small bowl,combine 6 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg; spoon about 1 tablespoon in the cavity of each apple. Spoon a ffew raisins on top. Moisten edges of pastry. Bring up corners to top of apple; pinch edges together. Place dumplings in ungreased 9 X 13 in pan. In small saucepan heat brown sugar, water and margerine to boiling; pour over dumplings. Bake @ 400 for 30-40 min or until apples are tender. Serve warm. [ June 22, 2002: Message edited by: Raefindel ]
