I can understand wanting to get in your vote because of bad weather. But for all you knew,
McCaber was innocent (as it turned out!). Why didn't you think there was any other option?
Boro was the main candidate, and it looks for all the world like you wanted to save him. You were also defending him earlier, even before he became a viable candidate.
